Congratulations to you and your family and best wishes. Is there any reason why the pitch of the roof is so high? Previously in Liberia most homes had a 1:3 roof pitch. I now see a steeper pitch. I also see the steep roof pitch in designs from other African countries.
@mkeita1002 жыл бұрын
My purpose is aerodynamic and ample ventilations. The further the pitch of the roof is away from the lintel , the better the air flow. Thus making your A/C to work as little as possible.
@bbalderston1252 жыл бұрын
@@mkeita100 Exactly. Put ventilation to exterior up there and you'll be much more comfortable. The solar heating on the roof will just fill the entire under roof space with extremely hot air pushing down and infiltrating living spaces.
@bbalderston1252 жыл бұрын
1:3 is usually done to save material. The steep the pitch the better. Only thing is this will increase the velocity of water coming off and will require very heavy grade gutters. However with the massive rains in LIB it could be best to give up on roof mounted gutters and place angle concrete slab on ground all the way around the house that slide into gutter on ground and carry to river. Don't underestimate the volume, it will be huge and sustained.

"That is it", you said. Mr. & Mrs. Keith, Congratulations 👏 👏 and more grease to your elbows. Adding the "Finishing features" is what l am thinking about right now. No joke. Now, why will l subscribe to your blog? I didn't learn anything particular from the video. Your house plan is unique to your taste. I may not like to have a big house like yours. Please; Tell us about cost of material: ciment, load of sand, crush rocks, labor costs, construction permits, and more .... Personally, l don't know you and showing me your "dream house" is good but what use is it to me, especially, when l won't stay in your beautiful house? I pray 🙏 for you to finish it. It's a nice project. However; how much, (US DOLLARS approximately), will it cost to build a house like that in Liberia now? Be blessed. Thanks.

Hi Mr. Quist! thanks for watching 😅 I can't tell where you're from ,for this video to have any benefit to you. Our purpose is to encourage other great liberians around the world that we need to build or rebuild our country, after the devastations caused by the civil war. The ghanians have done it, and their country was in a lot worst shape than ours.
@mkeita1002 жыл бұрын
My house plan is unique to myself and so is the size. that's why I'm not putting any costs breakdown on TV. No two houses are the same. Furthermore, the vacillating prices in the market place may not be taken into consideration. The estimate on the roof , aluminum zinc was a prime example. we bought half last week and the following was different price!

Beautiful design love it. Downsides : the house is too short. You do not turn your back on Liberian contractors. They don’t know any better. What they learned 200 years ago have not been upgraded. They don’t research. All the houses in Liberia are short and in the ground with the exception of Lebanese and Indian merchants structures. I wish you had added at least 4 more courses. Secondly I wish you had erected a two story building that would have enabled you to appreciate and utilize the amazing views. However I think you did your best.
@mkeita1002 жыл бұрын
You’d be forgiven if you look at it from the aerial view overlooking the roof top, which tends to give you a bird’s eye view, thus making the house shorter. 16 coarses is plenty high @ 10 and half feet of interior space. Not counting the lintel to the tip of the roof @ 7 1/2 My purpose is to give the Liberian workers a JOB. I don’t wanna to climb stairs anymore to go to bed.
