With a family of 6 and I presume you’ll be preserving food why wouldn’t you put in a larger sink? I grew up in a family of 6 and we grew our own food and I was the dishwasher and having a larger sink was very helpful. The work you have done looks great.

A larger sink takes more water and we heat our water on the wood stove. I find it more convenient to have the sink smaller. It also makes more counter space for preparing homemade food.
