Hey beer geeks! What do you think of the Brudio? In related news we need a name for the brewery itself, who knows maybe one day we'll make a commercial beer. Any thoughts?

Trying to translate British is a challenge here across the pond. So a biscuit is a cookie, a crisp is a potato chip, a boot is a trunk and apparently a "garden" is a small overgrown field full of weeds that if you mowed it, you'd probably find a 1975 Plymouth sitting on cinder blocks...so I'll add "garden" to my translated list. Thanks friend...I mean, um, mate?

Seeing you take on a project like this and think through all the steps, all while having a new house and new baby, I'm impressed. Great video, Jonny and a commercial beer sounds like a great idea. I am super jealous. In fact, I'm super jealous of anyone who has a shed or garage to brew in and can leave their equipment permanently set up. I have a flat and whilst it is on a Scottish island and I have a spectacular sea view, I have to brew in my kitchen and have empty bottles secreted all over my flat ready for the next brew. I appreciate that you've probably got this year's schedule sorted but I'd be really interested in a video which looks at other home brewers' set ups, particularly those where they are challenged for space. On a separate note, at the Christmas party, you mentioned how good Five Points' Green Hop is. I just had a case delivered this week (lovely Five Points deliver to the Scottish islands!) and it is excellent!

Delicious Thats the plan for our garage once I sort the house out, ill be fitting a floor drain and some other bits as well though. Im assuming when you keg you pressure transfer? Its a bit of a pain having to keep lifting the fermenters up and down every time I brew and keg a batch though

Hi CBC guys! Love your content, love your channel, love your insights! Idk if you'll see this, but I had a random question about beer aging I figured I'd ask my favourite beer-related content creators. I've gotten my hands on a 17% pilsner from eastern Canada, supposedly the strongest lager in North America, and I was wondering if you had any insights regarding bottle-aging lagers, especially lagers of that strength! From the looks of the bottom of the bottle, it is definitely chock-full of yeast too.

Congratulations with the brewdio. Looking forward to lots of home brew content. Could you do a NEIPA with local uk or European hops. This would be more sustainable and cheaper for those of us on this side of the pond. Just did a NEIPA with mandarina Bavaria after you mentioned it on the podcast. Just cold crashing. By the way where are you cleaning and getting your water. Seems like you could do with at least an outside kitchen sink on the beer patio outside of the brewdio. Maybe a reverse osmosis setup somewhere.

To be honest, I wouldn't really recommend the one I used, hence why I didn't dwell on it. Not because it's not up to scratch but because the company (Dunster House) were not the most efficient or helpful. Especially once they got my money. However, in general the key things to look for are decent insulation, quality windows, and a long warranty!

Cool project. I enjoyed watching it. Question (or observation): Inside the Brudio, it looks like there might be an overhead light that is isn't the same color as your vloging light panel and the light from the windows (5200K-5600K) and gives off a yellowish-green hue on the wall behind (between the center and picture on the right). Do you turn that off when doing a proper video or will you replace that bulb/light with something more tuned to daylight?
@TheCraftBeerChannel

The lights are Smart LED so dimmable and can change colour on the RGB spectrum - but even so when I film CBC stuff I turn it off and rely on the light panel and natural light.

@@davidmallard8729 I made a rig to help with this. It's a stainless steel carbonation cap connected to a low pressure propane regulator connected to a gas disconnect all with regular gas line. Probably about 30USD in all. Plug the carbonation cap into your regular gas disconnect from your tank and then the other disconnect onto your corny keg. You get a consistent 1/2 psi of pressure delivered to the corny, just enough to break the vacuum and fill the headspace when pulling pints from my reconditioned Angram beer engine. Works great, just don't tell anyone from CAMRA. 🙂

@@jhoyle68 interesting idea. Do you prime / carbonate the beer in advance. Guess the 1/2 psi is not enough to provide carbonation?

@@davidmallard8729 Yes, I just prime the keg to get about 1.7 volumes.

on purely equipment what did you spend roughly(in pounds)? thanks
@TheCraftBeerChannel
@TheCraftBeerChannel Жыл бұрын
Well to be clear we didn't spend anything because Grainfather were our sponsor at the time, but this exact kit would set you back around £3,200. Since this video Grainfather have released lots more budget, but still excellent equipment so you could likely do similar for about £2,000

Could easily make the bench on a hinge. Liquor tank you could just buy a small pump to move water. For drainage, raise the floor and make the floor a removable grate, or vice versa, dig below and make the floor a grate/filter that would flow into the yard.

All great ideas but like I said, the wall can't take much strain! As for drainage I have no backyard drain and can't let all that malt, hop and trust just go into the eco system so needed to collect it.

Building it on a concrete pad would stop the floor from rotting out within a year or two particularly as there is no guttering. Just my experience.

The base is actually pretty good for this - 4 inches of honeycomb plastic, filled in with gravel. So drainage is excellent, and there is a weed barrier beneath that. It should last 10 years or more.

As a German, I appreciate how you planned the build. If you were American you would have started building in the morning and by the afternoon you realize all your money is spent and the project will never be finished. Because of this, you are absolutely broke and will lose everything you own in two weeks. Now you blame the Democrats for the mess and pray to God for a check that will save you.
@andrewpbarry
@andrewpbarry 2 жыл бұрын
I think you are mistaken. As an American, this garden brewery would have likely been 50 square meters, have double vanity sinks for some reason, require 5k watts of both heating and air conditioning, and somehow incorporated an eight cylinder petrol engine. (But it would be the democrats fault that it's not ten cylinders)
