Love this video and the DJ vid too. But my question is, and I build and fit clubs for a living, doesn’t the grip have to dry longer than it is before you’re walking it out to the range for the player to hit? I haven’t heard of hitting a regrip 5 minutes after installing.
@apaulmcdonough21703 жыл бұрын
While you raise a good point about Grip Drying Time, there's no indication given how long until Rory actually will swing it.
@danwhitehurst95923 жыл бұрын
@@apaulmcdonough2170 true. But he does say at the end, “ let’s finally clean of my fingerprints with this 3M spray and walk it out to the range.” I guess he could just tell Rory to wait to hit it until the grip drys. But as a player, that sucks. If you hand me my new club I’m going to want to hit it right then.
@apaulmcdonough21703 жыл бұрын
@@danwhitehurst9592 well either given to Harry the Caddie, or turned over to the TM Rep on the Range. I doubt this was a "last minute build". And those Equipment Trucks usually aren't parked directly behind the Range, so I imagine it takes "a minute" to get there.
@shinnicko5 Жыл бұрын
Two years late to the party but somehow I'd imagine that's more of a video presentation choice than good practice. Seems more fluid to draw a final conclusion to the video by saying that rather then saying you wait for the grip to dry then having a last hard cut to a different clip of him saying he's taking it out to the range. If that all makes sense.

Interesting as I thought when guys find a driver they like, they stick with it week after week. But depending on conditions they are now changing? Or was it he didn’t hit the Max well in Dubai so he’s switching at Torrey Pines?
@ricedaddy884 жыл бұрын
To my knowledge it's more of the player trying to keep the feel of the club while optimizing flight characteristics based on conditions of the course and where they're playing at. Altitude, the thickness of the air, how wet or dry the course is playing are all conditions players take into account. That's why it's so important for the clubmakers on the truck to be able to dial in swing weight, loft, and lie to exactly what the player is comfortable playing. The club will feel exactly the same to the player but their launch and flight characteristics will differ. This allows the pros to play the "same" club at Club de Golf Chapultepec (like they did in 2017) at 7800 ft above sea level as they would anywhere else. Your ball's apex will be lower at higher altitudes than at sea level and will carry further (4-12% for us average guys and 8-15% for TOUR players), but these guys aren't just going for distance, they want accuracy to be able to put the ball in the most advantageous positions so increasing loft to increase apex, change carry distance, and effect run out are all things the players and their teams have to take into account.
