In the middle of building this kit. Currently putting the back wheel together. You definitely get spoiled with the bandai starwars kits. These require a bit more thinking and can be a bit vague on where pieces exactly fit. I'm using it as practice before I do a CB 1300 kit which is a bike I owned for almost 10 years and I really don't want to muck that one up. Your finished model was excellent and your builds have really inspired me over the last 6 months since I took up model building again. Thanks Iain

Looks really good. I did the 1/6 version of this bike, well it's the standard version of the same model, if you get me. I did it black, but after a couple of years the decals dried and cracked and started to flake off, so I took the model apart and repainted it, metallic red. Very similar to this colour but without decals. I also built a 1/12 Tamiya Yamaha Virago. I think bike kits look more realistic than cars!

Bought this kit myself after watching this video, the box and sprue suggest to paint the tank and mudguard white, but I have to say, the your choice to use red looks amazing. I love the contrast between the blue tank decal and red paintwork, it screams 80s retro so loud that I can literally hear Phil Collins blaring in my ear. My dad had a Honda 250cc Superdream in the 80s which is similar to this bike, but smaller

When you clear coated the engine parts.. Did you brush paint them after assembly or spray the different parts matt and gloss and then assemble?

@stevenwells50093 жыл бұрын
Seconded. I’m really puzzled that there is no decent kit available of this iconic Honda, in any of its marks.
@stephenroberts71946 жыл бұрын
Great build, I think it looks really good. Can’t see that it could be built much better. When you are glueing, it looks like you quite often glue parts together that are already painted, do you use super glue to do that? If I use the tamiya cement and it comes into contact with any paint it wrecks it???
@quadflopper10127 жыл бұрын
wow you do nice work, can tell you've built a lot of models, i agree with your decision to tone down the chrome, it does look more realistic, good job. it is a shame though that tamiya didn't choose to base their kit on the first generation CB750, with it's more old school design it was truly the most beautiful of the honda 750's!
@modelchili7 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I think Tamiya does do an earlier version of this bike.

Great video and love the colour scheme, you seem to of skipped how you treated the exhaust to convert from the horrid chrome to the black, did you remove the chrome first or just prime and paint black ?
@modelchili4 жыл бұрын
The chrome exhausts weren't actually used in this kit, it's a slightly modified CB750 and came with bigger exhausts on the black sprue. They were just painted black like all the other black parts. :)

I have built 3 of these in 1/12th in different colours. Also the 1/6th scale one. I find it easier to put a toothpick into the end of the tube to spread it and add a touch of glue to the fitting then affix. The rear end of the bike is an issue it wasn't your building.
@flyingphotography57703 жыл бұрын
@ Bob Leach Having built the Tamiya Monkey, I found using tweezers to attach tubing was destructive. The tool puts a permanent flat into the line. Your suggestion of widening the ID just prior to install is a good idea. Will use this tip building the Tamiya Honda CB750F. Thanks

I've got an original 1980 CB750F in red! The clocks in this model are from the CB900 and the exhaust, oil cooler are after market pieces. The clutch is a RSC (Racing services Commission, replaced by HRC Honda Racing Corporation ) part and back in the day cost at least 10k $! I also own a genuine shop manual which shows you how to route all the cables and wires. If you do build more bikes it's worth going to www.carlsalter.com for free shop manuals. These give very clear illustrations of all parts of the bike and in which sequence to assemble them.
