At age 73 I decided to revisit model making. Things have certainly changed. No more tubes of cement and minimal equipment, I found in the intervening years hands shake more and eyesight not what is was. However I have decided to take the plunge. But what model to choose? Tempted to build the iconic Spitfire at a reasonable scale....1/48? Comments to guide this 'old un' to the much more complex than the 10 shilling kits bought at Woolworths would be gratefully received.

@@hannibal884 welcome back to the hobby! First and foremost, make sure to take things at your own pace, and enjoy it at every step (though I'm sure you don't need me to tell you! 😂) in terms of your first kit back, I'd definitely go for something 1/48 and above - it's a much more workable scale, and the extra size really gives you more breathing room for errors. Good luck and have fun!

absolutely stunning build! Looks to be a fairly decent kit for the price too! I've got the Eduard Mig-15 in 1/144 and it seems this Mark1 would compare quite well with that

Thanks matt! Yeah, it was a surprisingly nice kit, definitely up there with the larger manufacturers

After the Gladiator.........it's smaller! Thank god you put the gear up........I'd hate to see hydraulic lines being added in 1/144! Great job on the finish......the 1/144 stuff is really hard to get to look realistic...........

Thanks! Is indeed a touch smaller haha. I'm honestly glad the gear ended up being raised too, would have been a nightmare as you say 😂
