Great discussion! Andrea, I have found your technique of taking an up-close-and-personal look at what the horse is grazing or foraging to be so helpful and fun, ever since I watched your video demonstrating it a few years ago. My horse knows that I know all his favourite hedgerow leaves and berries and we also inspect his hay together. 😂💚 It really nurtures connection and is relaxing too. So thank you for that.

Thanks so much for this wonderful video! I love it ,Andrea , when you mention walking around the horses field looking out for danger.

I am glad you liked it. Something that is easy to do but very meaningful to the horse.

I agree 1000%. I spend a LOT of time with my horse and try to make everything I do with my horse as pleseant for him as I can. I do NOT feed treats , But give love and rubs and talk to him to help him stay calm . He is a n Egyptian Arabian and Hot. He was so reactive when I got him, but after working with him a lot the is able too stand quietly now. When I first got him he was not able to stand still at all. I have taught him to respect my space and am firm when needed but Not harsh or mean at all. He runs up to see me Not for treats but he Knows he is loved and he enjoys being with me. Each Arabian I have had will let me do Everything I do to them with no halters or anything on them (they are free in a pen large enough to run in), even pasta worm them. Its is all because of My RELATIONSHIP with them.

@@andreawady Thank you So Much !! He was a rescue that was very thin when I got him. He is now fat and happy. I don't know anything about his background or the way he was handled ,but my guess is ,not very well. He is by himself , but doesn't seem to mind because I do spend a lot of time with him and am his "herd". He follows me around in his pen and often just comes up to me to be loved on ! I have taught him a lot by being patient and slowing down when he doesn't seem to "get" what I want him to do. I work a lot on teaching him to think instead of react. He is now learning to side pass and has Very Good manners on the ground. I don't treat him like an Object to be used , but a dear friend.

There's been sooo many times I've gone to the barn to ride but after spending sometime with Randy that all changed so we just hanged out in the indoor watching for lions
