Nice video! I live in Belgium and we don't really have 3d printers. But luckily I have a 3d printer! I find it irritating that in Belgium there are no 3d printing shops. That's why I made my own Etsy shop

Your video was very helpful. I've been printing one for myself, amputated right hand at the wrist.

Awesome project! The print quality is amazing, especially for a flexible filament :D

I had one similar to that printed but it's not flexible. It's just the hard version of it. And I'm trying to assemble it but I'm worried about breaking some of the pieces

Don’t be. If it’s 3d printed it’s very strong. Plus if it breaks you can heat it and press the two pieces back together to some degree

This is pretty incredible. Question for you as I'm pretty amazed by these... how are they fitted to a person it's being made for?

Great job, you gave me hope for my son, he is born with no fingers in his left hand,he has a functional wrist down. He is 5 months now. When will he able to use such prosthesis? At what age? Thank you so much for spreading hope .. God bless you

Don't worry about your son too much; my daughter was born with exactly the same "handicap" as you described and with help from available resources (physical therapist etc.) she can do anything she wants to do! She is now four and we have had some "adaptations" made for her but mostly, she uses her left wrist to stabilize object and is very skilled at using what she has. In Canada we have the War Amps that are an incredible resource, look for similar organisations in your country. As for a prosthetic hand, every child is different but my princess has known about her difference for about 2 years but has not asked for a prostethic yet. We will possibly get her an e-nable hand in the next 12 months or so, as she will be staying school next year. One last thing: teach her to be strong and positive about it, she never says "I can't". she says " it's difficult" or "can you help me" it makes a big difference!

@@yellorado thanks a lot for your kind words. Indeed, I was so worried about him especially after birth but now I'm very proud of him. He is almost 2 now and he's doing well. He does almost everything without help using his wrist or small bones of fingers under skin effectively. He is so smart and strong. I'm no longer worried about him. I and my husband teach him to be independent and to try before giving up. For a prosthetic hand, we will leave it for him to choose whether to get one "if he needs it" or not. May God bless him and your daughter. They are adorable❤

Hello Andrew, Nice seeing your prosthetic arms. I was amazed to see this and thinking if I could help poor people in my country in Bangladesh. I live in USA and I can afford to buy one to help poor people. Could you give me more insight to learn about 3D printing best way to help people.

I'd print them with a lower amount of infill so they flex instead of break, adding an additional external wall for strength!

I love the look of this and would love this to be our next hand that we print. We are currently building hands and hoping to earn our badge so we can start building hands for enabling the future. Can you build this using PLA filament? I'm not sure we can get the flex filament here in Tokyo Japan. Love the video!
@AndrewSink
@AndrewSink 5 жыл бұрын
I think PLA might work, but you would want to add some sort of coating to give it the ability to grip instead of slip. Good luck!
