I like the video, I got a 1957 short hood and debating on attempting to repair the welder or sending it off to someone else. If there are lots of videos on KZbin I think I could rebuild it.

Hello, I jave a question. Regarding the Clockwise vs Anti-Clockwise marks on the gear...is that referring to the rotation of the rotor? Mine is set up like yours...the rotor turns 1,3,4,2 on the cap meaning looking straight at the rotor it turns clockwise. But I have to turn the drive in the rear the opposite direction. Someone has been in this magneto before and I found that I didn't have spark to the #3 and #2 plug wire towers on the cap. 1 and 4 would fire. I found that they had the gear set to Anti- clockwise. I changed it to the C mark and now I have fire to all 4 wire towers. Furthermore the 2 and 3 positions inside the cap were burning through the bakalite material. Thanks for your input.

Seems like when I match up the metal gear with the “nylon” gear mine is pointing at #1
