This construction method (wooden framework covered with a mixture of clay and straw) is called "wattle and daub." It's usually painted over with slaked lime to make it more water-resistant, though.

Yeah, until the government tacks on their $22,000 building permit and $200,000 impact fees and environmental surveys. Not to mention the $10,000 annual property taxes then act like it’s some kind of “difficult to solve mystery” we have the homeless/poverty problems we do…
@stevena95122 жыл бұрын
You’re never going to get this much work out of a homeless person. It would be hard for local governments to enforce “international building codes” if they allowed this type of construction, even as emergent or temporary housing.

How well would that unfired mud stand up to a heavy rain? Adobe works in the desert, but the vegetation suggests this is an area that gets as lot of precipitation.

I've thought also, a taller door, but I guess these places are built almost like a fort...they seem to all have the smaller doorway as if they are to put unfriendly persons at a disadvantage if they try to forcefully enter. This is my guess.??

They would NEVER let this type of building be built in the USA, because this would fix the homeless problem, which means all of that money being dumped into programs to help fight homelessness (even though the homeless never get any benefit from it), would be eradicated, so government/city employees would be out of jobs, and cash flow, also if this type of house could be built for the homeless, the idea would grow onto folks that pay rent or mortgage, and they would rather live for free in one of these and save the money being sucked up for rent/mortgage and put that money back into THEIR OWN pockets so they can live a more comfortable life. Heck if you added solar to this house you would now not have an electric bill either, this is all problematic for our cities and governments, so they would NEVER allow this in the USA, because it would adjust the wealth away from the 1% and give it back to the poorer 90%.
