My great grandma always had her house painted hot HOT pink. Since her passing, my aunt and her family have moved in and they've kept it Nana's favorite pink shade with her roses out front. She would be happy to know the outside is the same, even if the inside has been changed up. Even 8 years since her passing you can occasionally smell her perfume walking in the hallway between the bedrooms and the den/kitchen/living room. She put her perfume on right at the crossing of the rooms before going out

@@beehivebat4766 thank you, she was quite a spitfire. She was born on Halloween 1925 and was about 3 weeks premature. She was born so early that the doctor didn't think she'd live so a birth certificate wasn't issued until the following day. The low that night was 29° in Brooklyn, so my great great grandma laid her to sleep in wooden crate inside their oven because it was more insulated than the rest of the house. She liked Irish coffee, as a Brooklynite of Irish descent. She served in 1940 at age 18 until the end of the second world war as a secretary for the army on the home front. And after settling down, having two kids, and moving to California she worked for the Santa Ana fire department for many years. There's a local bar in the orange county area that has you sign your name on the bottom of the bar stool if you fall off of it. My great grandmother's name graces the bottom of 80% of their stools. Towards the end of her life her body slowed her down but never stopped her, she was still a jokester. She'd come up behind her grandkids (my mother) and "goose" her, aka she'd grab my mom's butt cheek so my mom would squeal and then Nana would hobble away cackling. She was also a very good aim with a flip flop, which she learned from her Filipino next door neighbor, who was also a close friend. And once she wasn't able to bend down and grab her shoe anymore, she learned how to use her cane to lob it at you with just as much accuracy.

Or even same colour and tone, but different pattern of wood 😂 (I love doing that on Sims 3!)

Im in the uk, in EVERY home ive lived in ive had carpet in every room except bathrooms and kitchens. Ive often used rugs on top of carpet, for many years renting, carpets are usually thin and sometimes not great colours so a rug is great to cover a bad coloured carpet or if its a thin carpet to have a nice foot feel in bedrooms for example. I also like how in open plan homes rugs can define a living area. I bought my apartment 8 yrs ago and the whole apartment didn't have finished flooring except for the kichen and bathroom so i had to get that sorted before I moved in. Cost wise carpet made sense, from my rental life i knew I didn't want the cheapest thinnest carpet but flooring is expensive. So whilst id love real wood flooring, the leasehold stipulated a certain thickness for under flooring insulation with hard floors so I opted for a mid thickness carpet but i still have a rug in my living room and bedroom for extra squishiness, insulation and it helps define my space especially the combo living/dining room. Add rugs to carpet floors if u want to kayla!

And for the life of me, I don't understand why she claims she struggles to make floor plans for those type of houses. The simplest way to set up a floor plan is to have one room essentially be the hub, from which most of the rooms come off of.

When I use real floorplans for my sims builds, I use the windows to get the scale right! It’s a little trick, works every time! 1 window is 1 tile, and so on
@thecatsred9 ай бұрын
The best way to go from a floorplan to sims w/o math or too much guessing is to first make the bathrooms. They are pretty much exactly 1:1 RL to Sims, so making bathrooms, and then the kitchen really helps complete the rest of the plan by just counting the size based on those.
@puredemon59269 ай бұрын
I also wish we had half tile walls. It'd be so nice! Imagine all the things you could build with that little thing. And talking about garages, a lot of people convert that space into something else, (especially if they don't drive anymore or at all) so that it's not for cars but hobbies or storage. So using it that way in the Sims makes sense.

Many of these only take up one square in the game, so assume one square is 3'x3'. it works MOST of the time! Have fun Simming!

Take the dimensions, round up then device by 2.5. It’s not exact by any means. But it’s very very close. And can be easier than eyeballing!!

I tried to recreate my own house and it was harder than I thought! Trying to make our half bath the real size meant the toilet was unusable because it was too close to the sink, so I had to cut out the closet that was on the other side of it to make room. It was a fun challenge though, and it's fun to see my house when I go into that save!

I really like the simsies builds and then try it on my own and really disappoint myself and then i am mad about how can she do that so easily and i cant, thats UNFAIR. Btw love your videos simsie.

i am TRULY begging for more brick colors in the sims. also ones that dont have the hellish industrial tag making my lot all smoggy. there are sooooo many sweet little suburban brick houses cottagey. i need brown bricks, creamy beige yellow muted orange etc. white washed red ones so they look pink. bricks that are all different colors so they have the look of jewel tones. stone and brick features on houses are SOO gorgeous IRL and the sims 4 is lacking

I will never get over the fact, that entrances that are not seperated from the living room are real. In the countries where i have lived, they are usually a small room, completely cut off with a wall and door from other parts of the house. Or if not possible at least a really visible seperation exist.

In the UK it's totally normal to put a rug on carpet. a lot of houses are carpeted everywhere except the bathroom at kitchens. Like you say, it's about design. Carpets are plain so adding a patterned rug makes a room look better

What seems to us as "realistic" usually depends a lot on where we live. As a German it is always hard to build houses that look the way I'm used to. All of the Sims building stuff is designed to look American. Sims just made me realize how different people build their houses all over the world.

IRL I put rugs on carpets sometimes. I usually do it as a decorating option and to define the area. I do it in sims all the time.

Yes, please do share your Florida house build! Florida homes are common for you but not common for all of us. They give me "visiting my grandparents in the winter" vibes.

I would love to see the florida build!! I love all of your videos, they always give me inspiration for my minecraft houses (I have sims, but prefer to build in minecraft honestly)

As someone from the UK seeing what common houses look like in the U.S is really interesting, because here i have never seen a house that looks like that, most of the houses where im from are like townhouses, little colourful houses, or cottages with thatched roofs 😅

My parents have a rug in their carpeted living room. It helps keep the carpet underneath nicer and makes the room look more interesting.

Maybe a "realistic" Building series :) like buildings from all over the world in Sims :)

when i build a lot that includes a garage, i use the City Living mural garage door on the exterior and interior. it makes it seem more realistic depending on the style of the build.

I think is funny she talking about having fences or not, but in Brazil we have some BIG GIANT WALLS SURROUNDING THE WHOLE LOT

If you are using the sq. footage on homes you find online, one sim grid square is equivalent to 3 sq. ft. So if a room is 12x15 on a plan, it will be a 3x5 room in the sims.

One thing that we have in my house that I’ve never thought of putting in my sims builds is trash bins in the bedrooms and bathrooms

I have been doing this a lot and it has helped my builds so much. I don't use plan floor plans. Lots of them have bump outs and makes roofing a bit challenging, but it's been so fun

No way! I found that same picture of the old fashioned ranch style house earlier today and built a house inspired by it! What are the chances 😂

The fact people in some countries have a room dedicated to do their laundry kinda phases me. Here, we just have our washing machine and our drying machine in the kitchen. Most people don't even have a drying machine because mediterranean country= the laundry dries on it's own, but even people who do, they're just stacked on top of each other in the kitchen XD

I always imagine a sims tile as being 2ft by 2ft. a sims bed is 3 tiles long, so 6 feet, which i think is pretty realistic. That's how i figure out the dimensions from a floor plan to a sims build. hopefully that helps some other people too!
