Friul tracks are awesome. Cost a bit, but well worth the expense. I used them on my Tamiya Tiger 1 Early. One comment, when you paint the tracks take a sanding block and scuff the cleats. Ground contact would wear them to bare metal. Also make sure what exactly the tracks were made of, not all were steel. Wheels should have grease/oil seeping from the center caps too. Not excessive, just enough to show where they were lubed.

Congradz on your first kit! Tamiya kits fit together well. A good place to start. Some of the old, less expensive Tamiya kits may be good for you to build and gain experience. Before you buy any kits, get the kit number and do a Google image search. You will find sprue pictures and directions. This is really important regarding tracks or you may have to cut each link of a sprue. Good Luck and Have Fun.

Thanks Andy, I really enjoy your videos. I found with friul tracks the brass wire is good if I use it off the roll, insert it all the way then back it out a bit. I trim it then, and am able to push it in far enough so it's not visible. Haven't needed to use any glue at all.

I've been using masterclub tracks for my tigers both early n later versions I'm not too impressed with these (that's after 4 sets) struggle lining up the track pin holes !! Also not using the track pins with them they break too easily 5mm coated wire does the job but will try your suggestion of the paper clips...thanks for the video's been very useful for a bloke whose just got back into the hobby after a 10+ year hiatus......Ian from York/England

in the past i used small staples as grab handles, they also work well, i never used the metal tracks until my Panther aust A build i am working on now, and love them, and now wanting to up grade my previous builds. they do make a big difference in the look.

Hi Andy,great build and paint job. Don't know if you would be interested but with most of my tanks I put plaster of Paris in the bottom and fill it up most of the way. It gives the tank some weight,feels cool,thanks.

Note: the metal tracks. If you want to be sure the paint doesn't flake off use primer. I do mine like Andy showed but use a que tip with thinner and quickly rub the raised feet on the track as used ones where bare metal. Any case, amazing as always!!!

Andy , I watched your videos for a few years, love your creativity on the fruil tracks with staples . Great build, tips, and paint. I noticed several "rivet counter" comments and " Tiger gurus " about Zimmerite vs non . Your work is awesome ! Inspirational and fun You I think have brought life to the hobby and a combo of old school and new ideas, obiviously a succesful venture. Big fan of your channel and FB medicorce modeler page. Right on. This was a great build and paint Andy One minor comment , just a thought You need to do a review of aftermarket tracks vs new kits with these workable tracks in these new kits. I am about to start RFM Tiger with kit tracks which are workable. Although I am a fan fruils to. But I love these detailed tracks that work. They are very similar to model kasten tracks Thanks Andy!!!!😉😉👍👍🇺🇸

The Tiger F 05 was the fifth Tiger (F01-F05 and F13) within the Tigergruppe Fehrmann. F06-F012 were Panthers. And you could argue which one the particular Tiger is you build. F01 had zemerit on it, which yours doesn't so it could not be F01 ;) . Also it is known that F01 was Panzergrau (grey and had no cammo sceem) Now F02 was hit early on and was then brought back to Fallingbostel and reasigned to the Kampfgruppe Grosan losing its "name" F02. Fun fact F02 was Fehrmanns commanding Tank, the tank was KO'd with a bazooka blast to the turret. Fehrmann and his crew were able to escape and were alter captured by the US forces. F13 Was also a panzergrau (grey) tank which then would not match yours. Which was KO'd later the day of 5th of april 45. So the only real ones where F03, F04 and F05. Litte Fun fact about the F05. The F05 was remanned after the first counterattack by the americans. During that counteratack all Panthers were KO'd and their section leader major Schulze was then assigned to the F05. The F05 later shot 3 Shermans and a M24. The F05 swallowed 3 shots- none of them with any effect and Schulze was able to withdraw from the fight. On the nicht of the 12th of april, Schulze was drving along the road with headlights, beeing mistaken as a friendly tank by the US MP, and greated from afar. F05 then hit a convoy again KOing another Sherman and The US Soldiers yielded and Schulze freed 200 German Soldiers. On the 14th of april the tiger then had no fuel left and was blown up by Schulze and his crew. That day Schulze annuled the Kampfgruppe Fehrmann. So I think the F05 was defenetly your best choice. Weather the color scheme is true to the F05, I cannot say but I dont mind anyway, it looks cool and has a great stroy ;)

I disagree with some of this, F01 only had zimmeritt on the turret as can clearly be seen in the existing pictures as well has historical references. Sources I have read say that the turret was from a completely different tank and had a camo scheme so wether you are correct about the tank being panzer grey, which I doubt it was this late in the war, then is possible the hull was either yellow or had a cam scheme too.

Agreed. I've heard of using T-pins too. But for staples are those your typical office stapler staples? I've a set setting at home for a panzer III but haven't started assembling yet. The brass wire that comes with looked like a real pain.

Andy - if you are using the awesome Fruil tracks on this Tiger, why would you glue the torsion bars in-place? You could place the Tiger on a rough terrain diorama base to showcase the articulation of the suspension~tracks. Just wondering. Great kit and build presentation by the way.

The "Hybrid" Tigers of Kampfgruppe Fehrmann from the the Lehr School at Fallingbostel were Dunkelgrau in color, the mish-mash of features and accessories is right. The rest is good, as in most of your video productions. I like that you complete the model, I dislike 10 and 12 part series! I like your approach, too. Good job!

Hi Andy I loved the build so much I bought the. Tiger kit RM-5001 by ryefield but I lost a part. One of the lifting attachments for the side of the turret, they are on either side of the turret just behind the mantlet. What can I do?

I used to paint all parts by hand with brushes still in the sprew, bit by bit. Put it together and repeat the process. Never done airbrush

just to let you know the raised sections of the track that touches the ground is normally a silver or polished metal colour due to wear on the ground . check footage of a tiger in a tiger fest .

I've found that soaking Fruil tracks in vinegar overnight gives the metal a slight "tooth" that helps paint stick to them.

Hi i am currently building this model with full interior, I dont which is the best way to paint the interior, Do i fix it all into place and then brush paint it or do i airbriush the individual parts then glue them in, Any advice would be gratefully recieved, thanks.

Andy have a couple of questions. On the metal tracks, have you tried the Ultimate Burnishing Liquid to weather the Friulmodel track or what is you opinion of this product. Also since SNJ powder is not longer available, could you recommend a replacement for the SNJ powder. And last, how many brushes have you gone through from weathering the tracks? Another great video on the Tiger tank, thanks

Lovely work as always, Andy. The chipping and weathering look amazing. Those tracks are great but very expensive adding half as much again to the cost of the model. Having said that I'm going to get some for a Takom Chieftain MK.2 build planned soon.

I'd use Ammo by Mig burnishing liquid on the tracks. You can avoid the painting and weathering. The burnishing liquid does that all.
