After watching many builds, this is exactly what I am looking for. Very helpful video, mistakes and all. The amount of trial and error, mistakes, etc. is a typical day for me. Usually frustrated and feeling stupid for not thinking two steps ahead and constantly redoing stuff. Thanks for keeping it real! Subscribed...

Thanks for your honesty in this great video. My favourite saying is, "I've learnt so much from my mistakes, I plan to make some more!" 😂 Thanks for talking/narrating too, I don't learn much from videos with no narrating. Love the silent music too! Well done, young man!

I love the lift. Simple, cheap, and sturdy. I wonder I'd you might even take one more link off chain out for a bit higher lift. I love the honesty of your build, I'd also led to some entertainment. I think we can all identify with "DOH" moments that you demonstrated. Thanks again for the video!
@thornedesignco Жыл бұрын
I actually did end up going one link further up the chain to raise it higher - works wonders now! And thanks very much, just make these for a bit of fun while I’m learning, so you’ll be unsurprised to hear there are many more of those moments than what makes it in to the video 😂

Nice one fella! I’d get a washer between the plywood and the head of the adjuster screw on top of the table. Especially using a drill may weaken the plywood. I do love those sketches as well 👍👍
@thornedesignco Жыл бұрын
Ah yes that’s a good idea! I’ll get that done, I can imagine using the lift and then the screw just disappearing one day haha 😂 and thank you, need to get a 3D model software that I can record I think!
@charliebrady375110 ай бұрын
I would put a washer under the table insert too - between the rotating locked nuts and the plywood.
@decosse012 ай бұрын
Enjoyed that! :) Couple of quick suggestions - get a Drill Guide Block which are relatively inexpensive and will make your holes perpendicular when free-hand drilling; perhaps taking another scrap of plywood, you could have used the router to first make a pattern for your top plate, which you then would have used to cut your hole; then it would have been perfect fit. Otherwise, maybe would have been easier to trim the insert plate rather than the hole?

I’m about to rebuild the router table (new workbench design!), so I will definitely look at implementing a few of these suggestions during the process!

Hi pal, I am glad I've found your video as I was looking for something fairly simplento makr and I also have the bosh router. Just one thing that I just discovered, get a collet/shank extension, it basically allows the router bit to go way higher up. I've seen one for about £20 on Amazon.

Best not to pass your fingers over the cutter. If there is a fault in the wood it could break and rout your fingers. I know because decades ago I trimmed one of my fingers, fortunately by very little. Great video. I’m going to try it. Off to the iron ware shop.

@thornedesignco Make sure to check the shaft diameter. For as far as I saw the extreme extension adapter only comes in 1/2 inch which doesn’t fit this model router. If you find anything that does fit please let me know. Also another problem with extension is the limited travel on this model. Only 5,6cm, so your bit will be too high in many cases.
@Katifda5 ай бұрын
@@barthijwegen5448 Google - Amazon 6mm to 6mm router bit extension rod. To solve the height problem, just lower a link or two in the chain.

I think there are some decent plates you can pick up at reasonable prices - I enjoy the process of building them but if I took in to account the cost of my time it is definitely more cost effective to buy one!
@nigelwillis664311 ай бұрын
Why did you not detach the base from the router to take the springs out that will always be compressed when the router is up. Take the springs out to take the pressure off the lift and it will give you more adjustable height.
@thornedesignco11 ай бұрын
Hey! I think this system only works because the springs allow it to lower (I.e., I do not think gravity alone would lower the lift) - I may have misunderstood your question so apologies if so!
@nigelwillis664311 ай бұрын
If your thread assembly is correct you should be able to raise and lower the router turning it up or down.
@thornedesignco11 ай бұрын
