Hey Andy, I am a Moderate LD Special Education Teacher in the Watertown Massachusetts Public School System. I want to let you know that 7 students in my school love watching your kit builds. 3 times a week I host a 'lunch bunch' for these students who have a hard time socializing with their classmates in the school cafeteria. Instead we build models, while we watch your videos for guidance and inspiration. You are the Bob Ross of scale modeling. So I wanted to say thank you for helping these students learn the importance of teamwork, following directions, applying arithmetic, making historical connections and most importantly the confidence that comes from a job well done. Thank you.

When I built Trumpeters 1/350th U.S.S.Hornet I removed the molded in hanger deck doors, added a Eduard hanger deck detail set, rigged up 3 Red(dimmed)led lights. More F6F,SBD A/C and pre painted crew figures..Tom's modelworks p/e set allowed a good deal of details on the inside walls..Have to look close but,the effect was worth the effort.

I have dabbled with a few models, but could have never imagined painting dazzle camouflage! That is amazing! One slight note, the F4F fighter plane was called the Wildcat. The F6F was a newer design, called the Hellcat. The planes included either the model are F6F Hellcats. The planes look similar, but the Wildcat had a unique under carriage that is unmistakable once you have seen it.

Air ops for CVs was fighters off first and stored forward on the flight deck one for self defense if they get jumped by the enemy and two fighters didn't need as much length to take off. Followed by the SBDs and TBD Avengers. Hope that helps with aircraft placement on the flight deck.

Both Rangers have ended up being scrapped... ex-CV-61 is currently being scrapped in Brownsville where her sister ships were also dismantled or are in the process of being dismantled. The USS Langley CV-1 has an interesting sidenote. Her sister ships, ALL colliers of the Proteus class met with tragic fates. One was sunk in foreign service during World War II. The other two, Proteus and Cyclops, are linked to the Bermuda Triangle mystery but it's thought that Cyclops actually sank far closer to the east coast of the US. There was a Navy diver who chanced upon a wreck in the late 1960s that had the same configuration as the Proteus-class ships and it was most likely the Cyclops in that case from what they know about the last sighting and position of that ship...

I have a couple of trumpeter models to build and they do look great. Unfortunately the USS Missouri 1:200 was missing a sprue for the entire bow. It was months that they said I would get a replacement after they said it was the retailers responsibility to provide, then finally after 6 months they said no one had any responsibility. I won't be buying anymore of their products. Too bad. The remaining part of the models were beautiful.
