engine bay looks soooo nice. One thing I've always loved about Mopars is that for the last 60yrs, they have painted their engine bays body color. It looks so much more sophisticated and finished, than matte black like GM & Furd use.

I really love the color you chose and that door is so straight that it defies the imagination. i wonder how you are ensuring that the color matches with your patchwork approach to painting things. Paint color usually varies slightly can to can so how are you planning to match things at the end if you find that the color does not 100% match.
@bgee4613 жыл бұрын
If you have a paint routine that you follow, pressure, flow, distance, temperature, overlap, speed; then the paint will all lay out the same across similar surfaces (vertical/horizontal). It's the same batch of paint. Remember, factory cars aren't all painted in one shot either, not even in the same facility. For example bumpers, grilles, mirror caps, etc. all come painted from the supplier.
@larrywestergaard83283 жыл бұрын
@@bgee461 V vertical panels should be painted in vertical position and horizontal panels should be painted in horizontal position.
@bgee4613 жыл бұрын
@@larrywestergaard8328 I know, that's why I said similar surfaces (vertical/horizontal)... Meaning horizontal painted surfaces will lay out one way, verticals will all lay out slightly differently from the horizontal ones.

You should trick tape all the way around the wing so you don’t feel a hard line fold the about 1/4 of your tape and it when you use the tape make sure the folded part of your tape is right on the edge so your paint will only dust in enough to cover but you will not get a hard line and don’t have to sand it smooth later 🤓

Hey Dave, although this project seems like it's taking f o r e v e r, one thing that stuck out to me that I didn't think about... manufacturing processes. You mentioned the door being wavy, which people generally think about. What you had to do is essentially correct what the car looks like and do it all by hand. By today's standards, you are taking too long... but the old school way of the 50's and 60's, you are doing well and that says a lot. Quality doesn't come with speed, but understanding of problems as time goes on. I realize Technology is only as good as the person who welds it. Manufacturing robots are not as good as those who take their time to get it right. Important lesson in this video, thanks.
