Do you know as sculptures go they should put a statue of king triton from the Little mermaid in memory of Kenneth Mars and a statue of Ursula in memory of Pat Caroll And a Sebastian statue in memory of Samuel E Wright all of them cannot only be made of the same color coral to form these characters can give fish species new home And remember it Hass to be full of fish that actually help the generation of coral

Bravo Sir!, A wonderful realisation of a wonderful idea executed beautifully. Congratulations on the herculean effort it took to create and install this piece. So much more than just a sculpture,a constantly evolving living legacy to the vision and passion of yourself the people of the Bahamas and of the Breef organisation. Thank you is not enough to express how deeply I feel about what you have accomplished here,but it is all that I have so, Thank You!!!

Ain’t a tribute... mockery... they never cared about black people then... and they will never care now... it’s a reminder for them... it’s sick .. if it was to honor why the sculptures have chains and show abuse that the slaves went thru..

*Building the World's Largest Underwater Sculpture* _from the Creator's Project_ Artist Jason deCaires Taylor builds breathtaking underwater sculptures that double as artificial coral reefs. Watch as his newest work, "Ocean Atlas," a massive, 60-ton sculpture that reaches from the sea floor to the surface, gets deployed and installed off the coast of the Bahamas.

Well, that's pretty awesome, i have a question though, why not manufacturing the whole statue at once,instead of breaking it into pieces. I mean construct it as a whole and then install it in the sea. where is the problem?
@NS_RC10 жыл бұрын
It weighs 60 tonnes as listed in the description, it was also manufactured in the UK and had to be shipped via shipping container, the pieces were designed to fit into one container. There is a lot more going on behind the scenes that people simply don't think about.

***** There's no way you could allow boats to traverse over the sculpture, it'd be to dangerous. As he said, by the end of the build he was standing on top of the sculpture. Maybe a kayak or canoe could go past, but no motorboat would be able to for safety concerns. That's why they installed that flag pole, so that it stands above the waves to alert boaters that the sculpture is there as well as to mark it for divers. The room between the top of the sculpture and the surface is something that would be rather hard to get a precise measurement on before hand, and the seabed could change in the time it took to construct the sculpture. I am sure that everyone was aware of this fact. And while the initial concept may have been to have the palms up against the surface, the artist would have been fully aware of the possibility that it wouldn't. Besides natural ebb and flow will adjust its proximity to the surface periodically. Still a beautiful piece regardless. And a very enjoyable video on these artificial reef sculptures as well.
@hiwayM910 жыл бұрын
considering low and high tides, it would be impossible for the sculpture to always be at the surface unless on a platform that rose and fell- hence only during specific points in the tide does it rest just under the surface as designed.

в природе так мало мест, где есть чистота. Но эти люди решили засорить остатки чистоты.Человек не может ничего делать правильно. Всё что он делает, оборачивается во вред обществу и природе. зачем ради славы и признания загрязнять дно водоёмов?

This is ugly to me, they look haunted, just ugly, a place frequented by a ghost. The concept is good, could have done some mermaids, some Behamiain mermaids. Or a palace, the corals would look like its garden. Mermaid playing the drums, beautiful pilers but a bunch of people standing around, haunting.

vin rap I'll take it that you didn't watch the video and just jump into your conclusion. Try to watch the video and you'll know that the goal of all of this is not just to make the underwater look pretty but to actually help the nature recover. Coral reefs don't just sprout in the sand, they need something to hold on too and this artist is giving the corals what it needs while applying art on it. This is their own way of helping the people by helping the nature first and then the nature will do it's job in the future. Don't forget that most (if not all) of the fish in the ocean needs needs the coral reefs when laying their eggs. And the view is just a consolation prize.
