If you look at the trailers that they used to use up in and around the Arctic circle, the ski's ran the full length of the trailers to spread the load as much as possible. I'd suggest that you triple the length of those ski's (at least triple, maybe a bit more) before trying to take that trailer up another mountain. You could also make them wider so they extend further underneath the trailer. Hopefully by doing that the trailer won't sink next time

Question!!! What if instead of 2 skis, 1 on each side, you built 1 full width 10' long sled? Less ground pressure per square inch, giving a larger floating surface. Plus if you added long skaggs to maintain straight pulling and preventing sideways drift??? Just an idea. Good luck

Coming from a former Tool Repair Guy, the problem with the StopSaw is EVERYONE wants to test it and the safety stop unit is 1-time use, so you need to replace it at $300 or so every time it's triggered.

They have gone down a lot now. Its less than 100 bucks retail for the cartridge. Then you have a blade that is ruined as well. Those are variable but unless its a nice dado stack, its not that expensive. 150 bucks to have all my digits seems reasonable.

Seems to me that the skis would need to distribute the weight from front to rear much like the tracks do on a snow machine. If the weight is focused on just the wheels i think it will not work, but if you had full length runners attached to the trailer at multiple points it would be a pretty good idea….well that takes car of my .02 cents worth……

I strongly would recommend not touching the circular, saw blade to see if it has the emergency auto stop. That kit that mounts to the saw is a one and done kit. Once you activate it, it is destroyed and sometimes destroys the saw. It is well worth it because it can save your fingers, but do you really wanna find out the hard way if it actually works?
@QargZer Жыл бұрын
They used a rigid job site saw and the fact someone wanted to test it's ability to retract the blade is extremely scary as they don't even have a sawstop.. The replacement kit is $100 and they will likely need to replace the saw blade but $150-$200 is cheaper than an ER visit and permanent damage. Nothing else on the machine would be damaged if you trip the sawstop function on a sawstop.
