Building What Dodge Wont | 2021 Charger Magnum Hellcat | 1000HP Hellwagon | Pt 2

The Charger takes shape in this episode and starts to look less like a 4 door sedan and more like a 4 door wagon. I am getting pretty excited for this project to move forward but am starting to run into the same issues I did with the 2018 Challenger Hellcat build, parts seem to be an issue and getting them approved to buy is another issue in itself. Hopefully everything works out and I can get the quarter panels for this in a few weeks and get it painted and ready to install the drivetrain and the wide body panels!!!

Dave, next time you break out the plasma cutter try tacking on a straight edge to the inused part of the rear quarter and run the gun along that edge your finished cuts will look much better and make the saved section easier to work with.

I think if it would have been me, I would have cut the entire rear section of the Magnum off right in front of the rear wheels and grafted the entire rear section over instead of having to fight the rear section of the Charger to look like the Magnum. Just my opinion though. I retired from building muscle cars many years ago, and now it's up to the young fellers to do it the way they feel most comfortable. I am sure when its done, it will look amazing just because it's Dave doing it.

In Australia, for mods to be legal they must be certified as Australian Design Rule approved by independent companies, and that's often extremely expensive and can even include a requirement to crash test panels etc. The ADRs are generally performance based and cover issues such as occupant protection, structures, lighting, noise, engine exhaust emissions, braking and a range of miscellaneous items. Custom vehicles on the road without certification are defected with heavy penalties.

If I was doing something like this, i would've just rebuilt the Magnum and drop the hellcat motor into that. What you're doing is definitely a lot more extreme and I definitely applaud your efforts! Keep it up, can't wait to see how the end result of this build will look!

Cut the Magnum trunk in half right under the Winshield wiper take the charger trunk cut it and weld it onto the Magnum trunk it should work

You should use the original quarters to measure and iron out any possible hiccups, so when the widebody shows up, it's just fit and finish.

I would love to do this type of swap using the least expensive Dodge Magnum and swap in a Challenger Hellcat manual trans in it. Of course just try to find a totalled Challenger Hellcat manual first. I think I saw a flooded Dodge Magnum in Autotrader.
