Building with Ecobricks 101

We put together a basic guide on what ecobricks are and how we use them in our builds for perimeter walls and planter boxes. If you’re interested in making your own, we highly suggest doing a bit of research on different methods, and consulting with professional engineers/architects first, the way we did.

I will definitely do this and teach my students as well. If I can show them that we can make something very useful out of trash I know they'll follow my lead. This is a really good solution to the plastic problem!

i have a doubt about the maintenance, afetr a period do u think the plastics inside the bottle can procriate microorganims, because they were before trash so they we're not cleaned right?

If you go on the eco brick website you can see the guidelines they have for making them. All the plastic that goes into the bottles needs to be cleaned and dried before you insert it. Hope that helps!

I saw a video by Russell Maier, where he uses cob, apparently because the ecobrick will not be destroyed if the structure were ever to be taken down. With the vertical process, will the ecobricks be destroyed (eg punctured, torn) if the structure ever had to be taken down since there is no cob?

I hope you would also show us how to arrange those ecobricks in the mesh wire. Do you make one layer of ecobrick lines first then stack it with another, or do you make a wall-high mesh wire structure then you fill it in with ecobricks?

I collect glass jars and put my plastic crap waste inside screw on the lid and cemented in to house floors walls and barn extensions. Next is a fence no homeless dog will pass

If time is money, this is a terrible waste of both. It would be better for a community to invest in a machine that can heat and compress the plastics into actual bricks.
