The best building in the planet for health, positive energy and a sense of warmth

Fascinating and exciting to watch. Glad to see rammed earth becoming more mainstream. However, Isn’t there a danger that the industrialisation of this process might lead to it becoming counterintuitive? The process is at its peak performance when it’s localised, with the materials drawn from the spot of construction. Involving large scale industry, electricity and transportation would seem to lessen its environmental benefits, and once profit margins get involved there’s a danger that less scrupulous companies might make a less environmentally honest product.

Doesn't this defeat the purpose? One of the big appeals of rammed earth is that you use the onsite materials

How do they get structural strength and earthquake resistance without metal reinforcement (rebar)?
@ruedaricardo4 жыл бұрын
There are several ways to achieve it. Rammed earth is very good with compression forces but you can use it in a regular rebar and concrete structure or use bamboo for added flexibility and earthquake resistance.

What are you using for joining this block?cement or..... What. .

The process was really cool, but the aggregate and the color choice was not aesthetically pleasing to my eye.

One of most spectacular features of rammed earth is the random nature of the sedimentary compaction. As everything is done mechanically using this method you lose this feature which makes the structure appear to be in uniform like a brick or block wall. Sorry to sound negative but this method of rammed earth must be incredibly high in embodied energy too when you consider the materials & stages at the factory, the transport and then reassembling each block on site. Must be a mind boggling per m2 cost.

it's just like prefabricated bricks, only better.

How do you remove the ropes from below the wall once it’s placed?
@KarasCyborg Жыл бұрын
It looks like they were putting down mud, and then driving wood wedges in to support the massive block, then were able to remove the lifting straps.

On most Videos we see they say that stones and other things make rammed earth weaker ??? Is this not the case ??

Kinda defeats the purpose of the building method, but i guess capitalists gotta capitalize.
