hey man did you ever thought of trying the new entity display that minecraft added maybe it can help your datapack to solve some bugs and save preformance and also maybe solve the block states problem.

Any chance this works with block rotation? Like if you place glazed terracotta or rails or anvils from different directions, will their' mini-sprites also appear facing a different direction?

I just added that! The version I showed in the video doesn't support it, but two days ago I added an update that allows the "axis" and "facing" parameters to be taken into account. That should be the version that's downloadable in the description now :) (it also now has support for doing this stuff in survival mode)

Also I should mention: it doesn't exactly work the same way that normal blocks do. Because some blocks have the same blockstate name but different behaviors for that same state, I made them all behave the same way: the rotation is with respect to the face you place it on, NOT your own rotation. Basically, all blocks behave the same as logs when you place them down.

haha yeah I tend to just code start-to-finish without ever commenting, stopping to comment interrupts my thought process. Basically the jist of this project is that the buildspace is represented by an interaction entity that just barely covers up the glass block. There are advancements to detect when you click it or punch it, and when you do, it uses raytracing to try and determine which tiny block you interacted with. (I actually have another video explaining that raytracing method, I think I made it like 2 years ago)
