If you kill someone who wasn’t meant to die or someone lives who wasn’t meant to, that has significant consequences. Making certain life decisions has a cause and effect which you cannot measure or control. If you watch the episode about Agent Christopher you will see that. Of course changing the past doesn’t mean that bad things will happen, but more that new outcomes will manifest, and how can we be the judge and jury of what was the better result. Interfering with what was is complex, and I think the way it is represented in this show and television in general, if done in a thoughtful way, is largely and honest portrayal rather than a dooms-day/cynical representation.
