This is a good movie but not what really happened. The true story written beautifully by Eileen Pollack in the non-fiction book Woman Walking Ahead (Catherine Weldon’s real Lakota name) is truly heart-breaking. You can buy the Kindle version for $3.99. Please buy it. This director is full crap re her storytelling. Eileen Pollack spent seven years of her life researching Catherine Weldon. Weldon lost everything (including a son) for helping Sitting Bull. She ended up in an unmarked grave in Brooklyn.

Although, I do agree with you if what you are commenting has some truth to it. The film does state it was based on true story .... so the director has some artistic license to this film. We all should know this by now so just enjoy someone's filmwork as entertainment.
@MadhuB1-forAll6 жыл бұрын
I agree. Why was she portrayed so pure and unblemished? (Are we not considered intellectual enough to be able to handle the tale of a divorcee and mother of a bastard through a married man? The fact that she intentionally went there to help the Natives?) She is also depicted as an innocent painter when Weldon was a true activist for Natives. So much is fabricated in this movie. It entertains much more than it reveals the history of our country's first people, the theft of their culture and the slaughter of hundreds at Wounded Knee.

That the slulful spirit that drives people of conscience, the colored the soul, the indigenous the spirit, together with the whites that are like Katherine Waldone around this planet just might save our Mother Earth, from greed, polute everything land, air and water for more $'s. When true wealth is in equality, peace, love clean water, air, soil for all.

After they conquered the tribes & after the Civil War ended, they had all this man power and turned their sites to the Pacific, starting with Hawaii and moving on to the Philippines, Guam, Samoa, Cuba, Puerto Rico. Same techniques used. Monroe doctrine. Started with the tribes, then moved on to Hawaii. Many great stories waiting to be told.

Woman Walks Ahead allegedly opened on June 29. Now it been announced it will be out on DVD on August 28. I was looking forward to seeing this film, saw the previews and kept my eyes peeled for an apoearnce not only at the major cinemas but at the art film houses in my area. But nowhere was it to be seen! It appears it was only shown on a few screens and now is going direct to video! Wilde Salome/Salome was only shown in two theatres for one day for a handfull of people who happened to be lucky enough to live in the right city. Miss Sloane was in and out of theatres in one week. The Zookeepers Wife was only shown in obscure art theatres. Whats going on? I have been a lifelong enthusiast of cinema...not television or video but real cinema shown on big screens in real theatres. Why was this movie quashed at the theatre?

A24 gave Woman Walks Ahead a very, very limited run, probably to cut costs. I think it only played in like 6 theaters. Same with Salomé; I don't think the studio saw much commercial potential in a filmed play, so they cut their expenses. Miss Sloane played widely, but suffered due to poor marketing from a bad distributor and terrible timing: it came out a couple weeks after the most toxic Presidential election in recent memory, and was immediately (and unfairly) tagged as a piece of gun control propaganda. People weren't exactly thirsting for more politics at that point. And Zookeeper's Wife actually overperformed the studio's expectations. It made more money and played in more theaters than they ever expected it to. It even hit the top 10 at the box-office at one point. I get your frustration, I hate it when things I'm looking forward to don't play near me. Streaming is just where most arthouse projects are headed these days. :/

Loved the movie tho the shooting was not accurate considering his son & there were others shot inside his cabin they were left to rot where they lay. Thankfully missionaries came to bury them 2 weeks later. The white government so evil and hateful. They all went to hell anyway for their sin. It was very emotional for me as I am a descendant of Sitting Bull. It's so sad to this day the white American still wage war upon my people through other means, they poison the land, they try to poison our bison, they poison the water, the air, the land...the earth will burn and God will purge the earth of the iniquity of such ppl.
