A gem of a video Tony. Unbelievably timely as I have to do my own home made trusses etc for the wife’s old stone stealing. I have Young Dan’s square as well. The walls are 2 ft thick and not square, so I have put what I learnt from you fellas into practice and git it sorted.

Nice job 👍 I like to put the truss on the plate and level the ceiling cord and then strike a plumb line up outside edge of wallplate on to the truss to determine my birds mouth. Everyone does things differently but that's how you learn, as long as the end result is there then its all good 👍 Top tip, once you've marked out the wall plate stack your 1x4 on top keeping the ends flush to the inside block work and then square all your truss marks on to the 1x4, then it's easy to fit and saves time, you can plumb the end of the 1x4 to your inside block work once all installed, if that makes sense 👍

Hi, great work! Is there a name for this type of truss without a bottom chord or joist? Also is there a maximum width from wallplate to wallplate for this type? I'm doing a very similar project with a width of 4.6m over wallplates and ideally would like to not have to use a ridge beam or purlins. Cheers Pete

Newbie question. With the bracing installed on the internal side of the trusses, i.e. the ceiling. With this a vaulted ceiling design (I believe that is what Tony mentioned). How is the plasterboard installed with the bracing being in the way? Double boards?
@BuildWithAE2 жыл бұрын
Hi G You would use lath to make the difference up down the rafter length underneath then plasterboard all the best Tony 👍

Great vid as always - just had first delivery from Nuneaton after finding them from your tour video. Thanks. Do you recall how much each of the trusses in the video weighs? About to do some a bit larger (~75kg, 5.5m span) but still need birdsmouths cutting so wondering how different the process will be.
@BuildWithAE2 жыл бұрын
Hi Badger much appreciated 55kg ares were The process is straight forward, height is a factor if two storey definitely you more hands plus decking inside or tressells Happy new Year give us a shout if you need a hand and to to far away all the best Tony 👍

If th wallplate is not exactly straight then all the tail ends will not be straight. Thus facia board won't be straight if fitted
@BuildWithAE2 жыл бұрын
Hi Steven no fascia mate, wall plate nothing to worry about pretty much parallel all the best Tony 👍
@Toyotaamazon80series Жыл бұрын
The tails will be straight if one uses a dry line or chalk line. What one has to watch out for is that the fascia cuts are parallel with the wall. Otherwise one will have a tapered soffit.
