Bulbuli | A Tribute to Kazi Nazrul Islam's Timeless Ghazal
"Bulbuli" is one of the earliest Ghazals composed by Kazi Nazrul Islam, a heartfelt expression of love and pain. Originally written for his ailing son, Bulbul, Nazrul poured his emotions into this song while desperately seeking financial aid for his son's treatment and family needs. The metaphor of the songbird, Bulbuli, and its beloved spring flower symbolizes the delicate yet powerful bond of love and sorrow.
This rendition of "Bagichai Bulbuli Tui" is inspired by Nazrul’s original, which was composed Ghazal extempore during a visit to the literary magazine Kallol in Calcutta. In this version, I have aimed to preserve the emotion and purity of Nazrul's composition, while also presenting it in a way that resonates with today's audience. Please pardon my flaws as it is a completely raw version.
