Former Director of Public Prosecutions, Bulelani Ngcuka, says a call from prosecutor Gerda Ferreira was the beginning of a nightmare for him. In his newly released book, Bulelani Ngcuka: The Sting in the Tale, he touches on how Ferreira excitedly told him they had evidence linking then deputy president Jacob Zuma to arms deal corruption. However, he made a decision not to prosecute. Nineteen years later, Zuma's corruption case is in court, although his trial is yet to get underway.
Ngcuka talks about his journey.

So a bribe was arranged for someone who had nothing to do with negotiations and we are to believe Zuma is not correct when he spoke about a plan to eliminate him? This sounds exactly like the plan Zuma spoke about, and in the process there is an offer of a job to his wife and the wife is purported as someone who was suspicious about it while in the same vein Bulelani says the job had nothing to do with him it’s just a pure job based on her skills but later on Zuma is charged and that happened just after the wife accepted the job! Zuma had always been hated for simply not benefiting like those Chris Hani pointed out as beneficiaries, they all saw Zuma as a threat and had to remove him at all cost!

There are so many Grey areas around the arms deal that Bulelani could have given more clarity on and vindicate himself from all the speculations and misunderstandings about his role on the matter . Because it appears that he just wanted to paint himself as someone who was very neutral and innocent. I am of a view that he still has to try harder and give more for us to believe that he did not play politics in all of this .

How I miss the days of black excellence and stinging bite of scorpions, merely seeing their car around your area would give me chills and made me to be proud to live an honest life. The country at the time was a beacon of hope for the whole continent until corruption, smear campaigns and blatant looting by the anc polokwane regiment destroyed our dreams and hopes for this country, it produced thieving of unprecedented proportions and the self enrichment of very entitled politicians and their immediate families with no regard for citizens of this country. There came names that nowhere during struggle were heard of such as Gupta,SA spiralled down the drain to a point of no return, a dream deferred to many of us young black south African professionals. The years that SA was, sadly not anymore,now just an image of its former self.

How can you say that there is a prima facie case and decide not to prosecute with the lame excuse that the case is not winnable? Since when do prosecutors take matters to court only when they can guarantee a conviction? Prima facie evidence means proof of an issue, the burden of proving which is upon the party giving that evidence. In the absence of further evidence from the other side, the evidence becomes conclusive. I don't know how many interviews we have had to listen to regarding what went down. Let's move on, please.
@Tsebomjiks9789
@Tsebomjiks9789 4 ай бұрын
True sibaba...the mentioning of 'prima facie case' was just meant to hand over JZ to the vicious media to prosecute him thereby tarnishing his image so that the people dont accept him as a president. That was the whole aim - we are not children to incapable to see this who supported and loved him - unfortunately it did not work well entirely. Given how the media tried to stop JZ from becoming the President, I think many people though that JZ was not educated to be the president so it is a lie when they say he was not fit because of the arms deal and rape case - these two cases were made to shift the real reason why they though he was not fit. They did not think most South Africans were going to by the story of preventing JZ from becoming the president simply because he is not educated but if painted as a criminal then that would sway people to dislike him.

With all due respect has Mr Ngcuka ever counted the cost of not prosecuting Mr Zuma? IF Jacob Zuma had been prosecuted and found guilty, then perhaps South Africans would not be in the dilemma, hardship, hunger, homelessness, dire straits, and the list goes on, we now find ourselves in.
