A completely amateur small montage from the workshop shot with my battery dying cell phone, trying to not get in the way of people watching, recording, and singing. It was absolutely amazing - pictures and video do no justice, and because it was a last minute arrangement set up before the Bulgarian Voices of Seattle started their tour the next day, I did not go in with the intention of documenting the workshop but, just to hide in the corner and enjoy the beautiful singing, I had no planned vision for getting the right kind of footage for making nice pictures or a video...and with a tiny cell phone. My husband is the photographer/videographer in the family (he is making the real documentary of the tour) - I am totally new to the world of video editing, and let me say, it is very tedious and time consuming and if you don't shoot with intention and a vision of the artistic outcome (especially without good footage), it is near impossible to make something of quality and is very difficult to do! I have a real understanding and complete appreciation of his art now, and that things just can't happen "on the fly", everything is calculated and must be considered in advance - lighting, timing, angles, extra footage for fillers, there is a lot to it, and first there must be the end vision, the story that will be told and to tell it through your lens.
My clip was made on a large computer monitor, so it is better viewed on a large computer or tv monitor...cell phone is good, but the still shots will be too small to see. Sorry! Anyway, here it is, enjoy!
(I first discovered Le Mystere des Voix Bulgares in Seattle in 1991 and fell in love with the culture, and the growing Bulgarian community in Seattle continued nourishing that love for over 20 years - so it was quite an unbelievable experience and privilege to attend. :)
