I really like Chungha, but her voice is not strong enough to compete on immortal songs. As a preformer, she definitely is on another level but you have to be able to deliver vocally as well. Dancing and having aesthetically pleasing visuals like explosions isn't enough 😫. Hopefully as she gets older, her voice will become stronger and less airy.

Mamamia Cruz Well, trot is usually a good genre to show someone's vocal ability. Chungha's voice doesn't really standout to me. I'm majoring in music and my main focus is my voice, so when people are solo artists they tend to have remarkable voices. Chungha would much better in a group because I think she would blend very well. She just isn't stable on her own. What she lacks in voice, she sorta makes up in her performance but I can't see her lasting very long as a soloist that is taken seriously... She has club bangers, but I think that only attracts certain audiences such as young college students. Immortal Songs has a mix of all ages and its viewers are usually middle aged. I don't think this was a good move for her so early in her career. Maybe if she sang a ballad, her voice would have stood out more 😅.

Singing a different genre requires practice or training, since she's not a Trot singer, so the song does not turned out so well to be sung by her. What I meant with this and my previous comment is, simply maybe because it does not suit her or she just need more practice. Because in this performance, in my opinion also, it lacks power (again, in this performance, I might be misunderstood by others haha) or however you may want to call it. But I'm sure she'll do improve through her experiences. So it's kind of inappropriate to conlude that "She just isn't stable on her own", "I can't see her lasting very long as a soloist". As we all know, she just debuted as a solo artist like a month ago? And there will always be rooms for improvements. But I do still respect your opinion. So cheers! 😊

really good performance, but honestly her delivery is not up to IS2 standards. she won the crowd over with her excellent performance skills and damn, trot had never sounded so sexy :D fighting chungha! i would really like to see her on IS2 again with better delivery!! (dont hate me :D)

You are basically correct, but IS2 has changed over the years. The singing ability of some of the contestants is higher than ever, but the producers have added an entertainment show element to the mix. Its not just a singing competition, like it once was. Now some of the contestants are there purely to provide entertainment, without regard to how well they can sing, and some performances have a circus-like atmosphere. The audience rates the overall performance, not just singing ability. On some occasions, a performer who is not the best singer may win. I personally don't like the direction the show has gone. I preferred the show when it was almost a pure singing competition. However, I've come to accept the fact that the show probably had to evolve in order to survive and prosper. Otherwise, the show would eventually become stale, and probably fade away. A broad entertainment show can attract a much larger audience than a singing competition.
