I’ve been using the Smart Buddie for several years now. I have it hooked up to my BRS 5 stage RODI unit. The instructions aren’t real clear and I have watched several videos on proper hookup, only to be confused. I think I had it hooked up well enough that I had zero tds, but, this video cleared everything up and now it’s hooked up correctly. I’m glad to see BRS is carrying this product now. It’s a great product.

I installed this a couple weeks ago when I added an RO drinking water tank. I split the output to feed the drinking water tank and my DI canister separately. Works great!!!

I just got this today. It was pretty easy to set up and I'm filling my second 5 gallon jug now. Pressure went from 22-24 psi to over 80 with this! Went from no water produced to 5 gallons in maybe 2 hours.

I ordered this last Thursday for my used RODI system I just set up. I am on a well and have up to 50psi. This seems like an obvious item to purchase with so many features it would cost much more to buy a pump and add in the same feature set. This was purchased on your reccomendation Thomas. Thanks for the spotlight on this item, I would not have purchased it if you had not made the video.

My sediment filters also say they have a required pressure, doesn’t the pump connect between the tap and sediment filter?
@NaturalAquaria
@NaturalAquaria 3 ай бұрын
The pump will still draw water with that higher pressure through the sediment and carbon filters as well.

My booster pump just 8800 price 90 on brs.. crashed.. was looking to grab a new one and saw this. However I have the 150 gallon per day spectra pure 5 stage system .. Which has the auto flus. dont really need the 150 so i use the 50 gallon per day membranes... I am fine with 100 per day even less... will this work with a dual membrane system. ?

Everybody just note that even though they showed a picture of the double membrane water saver system twice the RO buddie system cannot be used with that because it can only handle a maximum of 100 gallons per day which I understand they said I just wish they would have pointed that out more before I bought it because now I can't upgrade to their double membrane system which is one of their most advertised upgrades they have I think and yet this really cool Ro buddy system cannot be used with it
@ThomasBReef
@ThomasBReef 4 жыл бұрын
If you run the membranes in parallel instead of in series, it can do it. They won't work like a water saver system, but it will produce more water than a single membrane, like running two RODI units but with a single set of pre-filter and DI chambers. I believe if you were to get two 50gpd membranes and run them in series it will work as a water saver system.

Thanks for the spotlight, I bought one, but NOW would you show how you could plumb it in conjunction with a permeate pump, because thats what I'd like to do and don't have a clue.Thanks again BRS. you guys make me smarter after each video.
@BRStv
@BRStv 4 жыл бұрын
Having or not having a booster pump doesn't really change how you'd plumb the permeate pump. Just plumb the waste line and product line through it. That said, we don't have a video on this...yet, so I can see the value. Just keep in mind that the permeate pump has little to no value if you're not running a pressure tank.

@@BRStv I just installed mine today, I read that short cycling the booster was bad for it, and once hooked up to my permeate pump, the booster cycles every time the Permeate pump changes pump cycles.. Is there a better solution? I didn't read the pressure but my pressure tank was about half empty and without the Permeate pump the booster was cutting off and not filling my tank up to pressure.. Thanks!!!!

Pretty sure the 50-100 GPD is on the waste water flow restrictor. A 200 GPD upgrade kit is still using the 100 GPD membrane and the same flow restrictor. So it will work just fine.

The pressure switch is a bit sensitive to be used with a drinking water system that has a pressurized tank. It won't allow it to fill up completely, so keep that in mind.

A booster pump will help.. prob easier to get a more simple unit that does that job. It takes me 8 min to get 1.5L without a booster. I just fill teo bottles and drink them room temp. Cause the water is pure it tastes great unlike tap water

The Prefilter stage is your micron and carbon, which should be removing chlorine/chloramines provided you're using the appropriate carbon type. DI is a final polishing stage and should be last as shown otherwise you'll burn through it in a matter of gallons.
