Great video! WWC has some great processes going on and many are ones I was taught to do in the military and translate very well into civilian applications. WWC is a great example of that in action. The bigger your operation is the more critical some of these practices are if you want to be successful. There is a huge difference in a 40 gallon breeder frag tank at the hobbist level vs a hobbist running several Lowboys vs a Commercial Operation at a business level. Again, great video and I would love seeing many more going forward like this.

Hey Ryan can you investigate why salt is cheaper to buy on Amazon vs BRS etc etc etc....as a LFS owner I find this ridiculous....no way our distributors should be getting undercut by Amazon of all places
@gregdaniels4440
@gregdaniels4440 2 жыл бұрын
Look at who the Amazon seller is. Most of the time it is the manufacturer. Selling direct on Amazon to your customers.
@hurricaneaquatics
@hurricaneaquatics 2 жыл бұрын
You need to research supply and demand and take an economics class. An LFS might buy 20 buckets, BRS might buy 300 buckets, Amazon will buy 5000. That's why they can sell it cheaper.
@ManiacalMangoes

Not sure that’s supply and demand, that’s a bulk discount.
@hurricaneaquatics

@@ManiacalMangoes if there was no demand, why would they buy bulk? Sure it's supply and demand. They wouldn't buy bulk unless they knew they could move the product.

I just looked at there salts. There not cheaper then bfs. Just looked at all the salts on Amazon and there why more money then BRS. What are you talking about. Now if your talking about reef crystal and instant ocean. That's salt is garbage anyway. Will never use that salt in my tank. To many Imperatives in the salt

Who knows...it is certainly a lot easier and way less risky/tempermental to establish a successsful business on dry goods and equipment requiring little to no special attention or care as it sits in a box on a shelf (aside from expiry dates on some products), versus dealing with live animals. That being said, I previously wondered if BRS would at some point partner at least with WWC, Tidal Gardens, or Liveaquaria in some way.

I think all sps need acropora crabs to fend of parasites and diseases. From my experience a colony that had a crab or two excelled in health.

In my locale, you only ever seem to see acro crabs when they come in as a hitchhiker on a coral shipment, so it might be hard to get those specifically for this purpose.

The thing I don’t understand is if wwc is so big and great why is their site filled with generic frags u see everywhere at the highest prices In the industry? How are they competing in the current market? Who is buying green slimer and meteorite cyphastria at insanely padded aquaculture prices? How can anyone browse the internet for coral see what’s available (even aquaculture) and choose wwc? Honestly please inform me what I’m missing lol.

I've never shopped there since I'm in Canada and can't get it across the border, but if I were to shop there I'd probably only look for those specialty corals that you dont see everywhere else. Maybe there are minimum order values for free shipping and so people pad what they really want with some more common frags to meet that mark? I mean, if you have to spend an extra $20 for something that you wouldn't normally pay that high, but you don't have another $350 to get a 2nd fancy specialty coral, and it saves you a bunch of $$ on shipping, then it's still worth doing.

Why would you bring corals from the wild? Isnt aquaculture enough to provide a varief supply.

Step 1. Use slick marketing to convince everybody you're the best Step 2. Create branding to reinforce step 1 Step 3. Use exploitaitive FOMO live "sales" Step 4. Invent silly brand 'names' for corals Step 5. Charge astronomical prices Step 6. Profits
