I've had some 12 English Bulldogs over 40 years, raising 6 litters of pups. Over the years, I saw a number of health issues, from skin issues, cherry eyes, interdigital cysts but very few joint or skeletal issues. My last English turned out to be deaf, which lead to anxiety issues, which turned into aggresive behavior for family members, which is quite rare...had never seen aggression with the breed previously. My vet has done tens of thousands of bulldogs in 45 years of practice and his sssessment was that it was not going to be a happy ending......and it wasnt. After the aggression issues, decided to try Frenchies, and have loved the experience. Bought a male and female at the same time....and have had 1 unplanned litter. Have recently built an incubator to supplement whelping needs in the future. Weve added a fluffy blue male with tan points....looking for an appropriate female to pair with him for future litters. Not a week that passes that i dont learn something additional about the breed thanks to YT. I have found managing Frenchies to be much easier than English in a number of ways.....especially in general health.
