Hello Everyone... Happy 2020. Happy new decade. This is my first video in a series about bullet journaling. I started making a video about pages for crafters and quickly realized that the topic was too big for one video. My second video on bullet pages that crafters need to reach their goals should be out shortly. I've got a good feeling about this year and I hope you'll be joining me fore the ride.

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this idea!! I started June 21 and it's really helped me feel accomplished! AND it's been good for my health! I would frequently forget whether or not I had taken my diabetes shot but now I have it here! I love setting goals for myself daily and monthly. I have a page at the end of each month titled "What I accomplished in *****" whatever month it is. I didn't realize I would get so much done! Being partial disabled, I admit I sometimes get on my pity pot about not being able to do things. But it really makes me feel so happy to see how much I actually accomplish!! Thank you SO MUCH for this!! I bet when you made this, you didn't realize what a difference you would make in a life!!!

This video is still great in 2023 along with it's partner, part 2. YOu did an excellent job of getting a lot of information across and reminding people to don't get too fussy. I would love to see a part 3 put out, perhaps an annual update on it. I appreciate you a great deal and you always make me smile.

I am either super organised or a complete disaster. Work diary, home calendar, electronic calendar and notes, enough! Double booking, or missing appointments. I had never heard of a Bullet Journal before, seeing your video I was inspired. Seeing other videos on Bullet Journals totally intimidating, some are an art form in their own right. Still curious I went to the source, Ryder Carroll, for 9 months now I feel more in-control of my life and I am just organised. I love the fact when life happens, plans are out the window for a day or a month, nothing is lost you just evaluate and plan the next day.

I had decided to start a bullet journal about a week or so ago, and ordered the journal you are taking about. I didn't like it at all, because of the ghosting on the pages, so I ordered a very beautiful hand-made journal that can even take watercolor illustrations! Can't wait to get it! This is just what I need!! I'm rebooting 2020 starting now with bullet journaling. I'm going to use this to tune out the crazy world of the last few months, refocus on personal goals, give myself some atta-girls, and kick myself in the pants to "just get it done". I'm a quilting late bloomer at 61, but hey, you have to start sometime. I'm going to explore my childhood creativity and let it flow onto the pages, into my quilts, and through my life. Thanks Karen.

I love paper and have started countless bullet journals, only to abandon them because I just didn't remember to use them or they were left at home when I needed the information in them. Thats when I went to One Note. It's in the cloud so it's on my phone, my computer or my ipad. I list my UFO's, my inventories of fabric, tools etc, books I'm reading, everything you can think of. I can change it at a moment's notice if its not working for me.

We were "ordered" to use journals in work in 2007 time frame. They lasted about 2 weeks for just about everyone .... nobody had the time to spend entering into a journal instead of actually doing the work. We ended up using the journal as a note pad and carried them to meetings to use to take notes in. We used Outlook calendar instead for tasks, etc. Still use that process to this day. But hopefully, others can get themselves more organized after watching your great video on them. Happy New Year!

I used a Franklin Planner for about 2 years and found it was a master rather than a tool so I went to a little purse size pocket calendar from the Hallmark store! I have seen lots of bullet journal videos and they were quite overwhelming; this one has been the best one for making sure we get the journal we want. I don't need anything to tell me where to be and when; I have a Mary Engeldark wall calendar for that. I do need a project journal, though, because I find myself with fabric and ideas that do not have a firm plan and no deadline! I have been retired 4 months and have not completed the things I wanted to get done. I will be watching the 2nd video right away for the specific ideas for quilters and crafters. Thanks for your great ideas. BTW, have you read a book by Gretchen Rubin called "The Four Tendencies?" I peg you as an Upholder. That's a good thing.

i like this video--thumbs up! I keep a sewing journal aka sew-jo. Whenever I want to sew the same item in the future (and I frequently do), I have all the necessary details on that project including how long it will take me to complete it. My sew-jo helps me plan my sewing time better; it gets me out of my head and into reality. I can't wait to see the rest of your bullet journal series for ideas I can use in my sew-jo.

I'm so happy that you have started the year off with this. I have chosen a word for the year...ORGANIZE! I've also been seeing a lot of talk about journaling. Also purchase a journaling system just last night BUT decided that I need to start small so that I don't make it overly complex. This is going to help me get all my UFO's and new projects into some sorts of rotation so I can have finished quilts. Thank you Karen.

Thanks for clarifying the bullet journal. I think I already do this in a much simpler form. I keep a notebook in my sewing room and list the things I need to finish (UFO's), projects in process, deadlines for the projects, and future projects I want to tackle. I'm going to get a real journal to see my goals achieved for the year! I always enjoy your take on things and look forward to the next video! Thanks for the inspiration!

This is perfect timing. I appreciate how you are simplifying this. I bought a Leuchtturm journal the other day, and this morning was about to start it, when I saw your post. You re-emphasized for me the mindful side of this, where it doesn't have to be pretty, but useful instead. Organization is not my strong point, and I tend towards anxiety. I'm hoping to deal with those with the journal. I so appreciate your approach to everything--you use intelligence and humour. Looking forward to the next video! Thank you!

One thing to keep in mind about those frixon pens is that after you erase them the ink is still there. The heat of the friction makes the ink invisible, but freezing temperatures will bring it all back. I still use these pens myself, but i think it's an important detail to know.

I started using a very simplified version of the Bullet journal method for my monthly planning years ago & I love it. What I love about it that you can use only what you need or makes sense to you. I'm not the best at planning ahead, so I keep it simple & it gets done. I need to start mine for this year, I'm a bit behind.

Love this bullet journaling thing....I guess at age 65 it’s not to late for me to start this. I have been unorganized for the past 50 years, I have struggled with it until I finally just gave up. I’ve tried index cards on a weekly bases, I’ve tried spread sheets and those were just so darn hard to read in a minutes glance, nothing seemed to work for me. My husband and I recently downsized from a 2100 sq foot house into a 1 bedroom, 1000 sq foot house, with a separate sewing room ( called the she shed) and it is only 12x12 so it has to stay organized or I can’t turn around in it. Wish me luck in the months to come with my new bullet journal attempt . 😳😮🙂

What is important, is finding a way that 'WORKS for you" to stay organized; I use my online Google Calendar...I can 'drag' my to do's, over to the next day easily...and have the app on my phone as well...can see a day, month, or year at a time...I am a creative person and a quilter for 20 years...I keep my sewing room org./lists separate from my everyday/personal Google Calendar. I know people who Glam Plan/Happy Planner....and I can see, for them...it is the Creativeness with stickers and gel pens that they are looking for, not necessarily the 'doing' the list...for them, the creating the journal is in place of what I find in quilting! It is a creative outlet...so for them, hours spent creating their journal, is what I do....in my sewing room!

I've been hearing about bullet journals for a couple of years now and even got a book on doing it to review, only to find out that the book was written by high school girls still taking chemistry and algebra, etc. I'm 64, I'm way past high school at this point, so none of the examples made any sense to. I do have a planner/cook calendar for bills, doctor appointments (are there any other kinds for people my age?), as well as some of my self-employed business. But it stas downstairs and my sewing room/treasure chest of stuff is upstairs and could use some ways to help me organize for days that I am feeling well enough to be crafty. So this was interesting from a different point of view, thank you.

Wow! Perfect timing! I was literally just about to pick up a dot journal I bought yesterday and get to work on my first ever bullet journal when I saw your video was out. I can't wait to see the next one!

Not a comment about journaling (although I will look for future episodes). What I’m wondering is have you started the Sugaridoo quilt along yet? I signed up for it but ultimately decided to sew along with Pat Sloan (Out West) and Angela Walters (Build-A-Quilt). Just curious because you mentioned the quilt along in an earlier episode.
