As a grown japanese guy, that shinkansen shaped bento box reminds me of my childhood. So nostalgic. Whenever I had a school trip and had to take bento box with me, I’ve asked my mom to put bunch of fried chickens or every other meaty stuff possible in the box, knowing those will be all soggy and not taste perfect when I eat them.

A ready made, fresh & delicious meal of great quality in a train station is worth $10! Of course you can bring food purchased elsewhere (which is what I do here in the US depending on what the station offers) or from home. You should see some of the unappetizing meals sold in US airports, which are definitely "pricey"!

Japanese culture has been one of my biggest influences. I have Japanese, Korean, British, African, Native American and Spanish cultures in my family. Thank you for sharing your culture. I miss my mom and she was a big influence on my life she taught me about our Asian cultures. Iden Versio it kinda depends on the how big the bento is and how long the ride is, because a train from Tokyo to Osaka can take up to 4 hours, and if you’re eating a small portion bento than yes, you’re going to get hungry, and it honestly depend on the person it self.

Between this and ramen are the reasons I want to live in Japan, I live a super minimalist lifestyle and I seriously enjoy all these portioned meals, I would love the Hipparidako Meishi Octopus Ekiben! I love octopus and then with rice, like the dish was made with me in mind lol that one was my probably my favorite. They all look so good though I would have any of them :D where is a quick 101 guide to moving to japan!

Good ramen is super easy to make! Octopus is easy to purchase in an asian store but most people dont cook it properly and it becomes nasty.

@@piplup10203854 definately!! The key to great ramen is the broth. Sometimes my kids will be in a hurry so they grab a good quality ramen from the asian store. They are amazing. Real meat and veg. Liquid/paste seasoning too. Then they cut up chives, garlic etc and soft boil a couple eggs , cut them in half and throw them in. But since ramen has become so popular there are great recipes out there. I just make a big pot of beef stock and freeze it so I can thaw, heat up and add everything.

@@amylee3531 Ooh really :O I'm definitely gonna give that a shot! I think I might have a local asian market/store I live in a very small city so there isn't much asian food around and my family we make Pho instead of Ramen but both are delicious! I'll have to try that instead! Much cheaper than moving to Japan lol

I remember buying at least 2 or three bentos myself Usually the trainride was from Tokyo STation to Hakata ^^ once everything is settles Ill be flying to Japan again

I don't even eat meat but so many of these look delicious. I think I would break the habit once to try the octopus one I've never had something like that and it looks good.
