To clear up some questions yes Shinkansen s bullet train but term bullet train was only used in Japan when it first came out弾丸列車. But Japanese don’t call that anymore they just call it Shinkansen. It’s rest of the world that still use the term “ bullet train” I hope that cleared up things a bit.

Mes Shinkansen favoris sont les Nozomi700A, les Nozomi 500 (avec la livrée Evangelion) et les E5/H5. En revanche je n'aime pas les Shinkansen à deux niveaux (style E4 Max), je préfère largement nos TGV de type Duplex.

FIRST!!! Sinon j'adore les shinkansen. Mes préférés sont les series 500; E5 et 700. Avec le E5 max aussi mais il est un peu trop mastoc. Mais le plus beau de tous reste le 500 type eva. Et un shinkansen en France est-ce que c'est possible 🤔

Pierre roulier Un Shinkansen en France c'est impossible, car les rails japonais sont plus larges que les rails français, et ducoup les rails français ne seront pas assez larges pour accueillir les Shinkansen (comme le TGV français ne peut pas rouler au Japon).

Trains64 49 t'en est réellement sûr ?!😁 Parce-que sur Wikipedia il est marqué (que ce soit sur la page dédiée au écartement ou au shinkansen) que le réseau shinkansen à été créé en écartement UIC c'est-à-dire l'écartement dit "standard" de 1435mm utilisé un peu partout dans le monde et notamment en France. Et le Japon utilisant comme source d'alimentation pour les shinkansen du 25KV AC 50Hz (comme les LGVs françaises) un shinkansen pourrais très bien relier Paris à Lille (étant donné que la ligne est en 25KV tout du long) le seul problème étant qu'il n'est pas muni de KVB et de frotteur pour les crocodiles de voie. Par contre c'est le reste du réseau japonais (à environ 80%je dirais qui est en écartement réduit (1372mm pour la keio et la toei ainsi que 1067mm pour les autres compagnies et la JR)) D'ailleurs ma question sur les shinkansen était un peu ironique puisque ça fait un bon bout de temps que je me suis penché sur la compatibilité entre les réseau japonais et français.

Pierre roulier Non le problème vient du gabarit car les Sinka sont très large ( 3,30m en général ) contre 2,90 pour nos TGV donc avec le récent scandale des Régiolis trop larges où il a fallut raboter les quais qui a couter des millions... vaut mieux qu’ils restent chez eux. Et oui écartement standard et c’est du 25Kv 50 Hz AC ( contre 1,5Kv Dc pour la grande majorité du Japon ) et encore heureux sinon les pantos seront à changer à chaque trajet...

En termes de vitesse, le E5 Hayabusa est au-dessus de tout le monde. Mais en termes de style (avis subjectif), je préfère le Hikarai Rail Star pour les livrées (ex aequo avec le 500 type EVA) et pour la forme, Serie 800 wins

Shinkansen is a bullet train. From memory, it means new trunk line . Of course, I could be incorrect. Shin in Japanese means " New " . I lived in Japan from 1993 to Sepetember 1997. Even went Tokyo to Hiroshima by Nozomi, then, a local train to Kure on business. Came back to Tokyo in reverse. About 1,900 km that day. Flying was out of the question, due to plane schedules. Train is more relaxing as well.

Beautiful looking trains. Both bullet trains and Shinkansen look nice TBH. Those 0 Series trains looked pretty unique just like the original French TGV and British HST. Every country has its famous High speed train :)

Double Decker Shinkansen. I travelled on them years ago. No view at all on the lower floor, as the fence is the only thing you see. Upper floor is OK though.
