Isn't this track just too "epic" for a menu screen where nothing happens? I mean, is great, but is kind of contradictory to those visuals.

Many epic main themes in games are placed just in the menu screen! That's because main menu is the first thing one is seeing after launching the game. Builds the right mood and motivation right at the beginning.

I know this is a subjective opinion, but I kinda feel that here the music is trying to compensate for a poor Menu design. The menu is really boring and it doesn't motivate or show any sign of what's coming, so the music has to do a special effort to make everything feel epic. Don't get me wrong, I like the music. I don't like how both music and visuals are interacting together. There's no balance between them.

As for action games, I prefer the approach taken by Dishonored and the Batman Arkham series. The music is way more restrained, but more intriguing. It makes you know that something big is about to happen, but it isn't happening yet, at least not until you start the campaign. That way, the music invites you to play with much more urgency, and it doesn't totally spoil the emotional palette of the game, which I I think is happening here with the Bulletstorm example. Another interesting approach is the one that Mick Gordon took for the Main Menu music of the new Doom. The music escalates, really slowly. It builds tension. When it's finally reaching the peak of that tension it suddenly restrains itself again, without releasing its energy. This process ocures several times until it finally releases some energy in one slow but vibrant theme for a moment, and then it restrain itself again and loop from the beginning. It creates a lot of tension, and again, intrigue and urgency in the player that drives him to start the game interested for what's coming.
