Great to see your doing videos again and helping raise money for a great cause, look forward to see your new setup+ the upcoming breeding season, Would love to get into breeding natives, ive breed canaries+goldfinch mules, but i got a siskin of an uncle 30 years ago and ive been hooked on natives ever since, its hard to find breeders, good one's, you seem to know your stuff👍. Stay safe

Thanks very much Robert. I had to take some time away for personal reasons but things have settled back into normality now so I'll be doing a video a week or so for the forseeable. I'm also going to change the channel name and picture and remove any of the non bird videos ive had up and just dedicate it to breeding birds.

White perillia seed. When you say southern native bullfinches? Which country are these southern birds native to? If a hen and cock are left in a flight or cage together when the hen is sitting on eggs or chick's, typically the male will force the hen to continue mating and this will make her stop feeding or abandon chicks. The best thing to do is to remove the cock bird after the female has laid her 4th egg and let her sit them alone, if you can have the cock see the hen then great but don't let him in to her until the chick's are around 14 days old and offer a second nest site which will give the hen something to focus on with regards of building a new nest and feeding chicks, remove the youngsters at 21 days old and again remove the cock bird when the hen has laid her 4th egg and repeat.

Great video mate. Some cracking tips. Stupid question, how long do Bull finches live for in captivity? Been told its 3 to 4 years at best?

It depends on husbandry, I have a 7 year old bird in the shed right now still filling eggs, I've had up to ten year olds and I know of someone who had one for 15 years but the vast majority of lads will lose them between 3 and 5 for various reasons
