Wonderful intro. Better than even the great Archie Campbell. Watching this make a person want to yearn about living in a place like this. We must remember there was no tv, cell phones, internet, and maybe not even radio. Maybe read a local newspaper once a week. You actually had to go and talk to people to learn what life was about. Have, to tell you both, that your really getting good at your videos. Hey, I mailed you a small check which you should be recieving soon. But it won't say its from Talldude. LOL

This is a neat little burg with a mix of interesting histories. I am a rail road fan and I love that part of the history of this place, it's history with Archie Campbell and that there is the thriving Yoder's market. It is something with the Yoder name in the Amish world. Yoders always will be the proprietors of a market like this in an area with Amish wherever they are or they have a company that makes Amish furniture, storage sheds or shipping pallets. It's too bad the old hotel looks to be in pretty sad shape. If it was reasonably doable to rehab it so it could be a hotel again and if that rail line through Bulls Gap is still active, it would bring in rail fans to stay there so they could enjoy the rail history and set up to watch and film trains roll by. Another one of your fun tours in Appalachia. Be safe out there ya'all.

Shane you know that Br549 license plate that Jr. Samples held up at the end of each show has quite a story behind it.He was a great friend of Hank Williams and they made a pact and whoever died first the other would try to contact the other in the afterlife!They would hold up the others licence plate and concentrate on it.They both believed deeply in this , that is why Jr., unbeknownst to the audience(you, Melody,and me)was sincerely trying to use the audiences powers to contact Hank! Not many people knew this, and still don't! Remember how Jr.used to shut his eyes and squinch,and it would get real quit, then the audience would start to titter, and laugh! Nobody had a clue.Thats straight from Roy Acuff's mouth!So you see what you stirred up?
@realappalachia2 жыл бұрын
Now THAT is an amazing story. I forgot that was kinda common back then. The old singer Johnny Horton supposedly did communicate like that after his death in a car wreck. Thanks a ton for sharing that here.

@@realappalachia Shane and Melody, I think I would be doing a disservice if I didn't clarify my little post ,as a Seventh Day Adventist Christian, it may be a stumbling block to others! We believe at death a person lays in the grave and as it were, sleeps until Christ's return.Any spiritual activity is not of God but of the Prince of the Air. Getting involved in any of this activity is dangerous and can be destructive for a person, especially a Christian now in these last days!The whole world wondered after the beast and false prophet an spiritualism is playing a decisive role in leading people astray so they won't be prepared to receive our Lord!His coming is eminent!

How true on always being late. You go to alot of neat places, but you never go to these places when they are open. It would be nice if you would go so we could see the inside of the interesting places. Is there a reason for this. I see no reason to watch or listen to you for a hour or so of watching you drive then when you get there you remind us you didn't get there in time to see the inside of the place. A lot of my time wasted. Maybe someone else can get something out of it but not me. Thanks. And by the way I really do like you and Melody both, just kind of disappointing that all we get to see is a closed up building when you get there.
