The major adjustment the Bulls made was spread out the triangle offense and ran more pick and roll sets, along with Pippen and Jordan going into the post more. This caused problems for Miami's backcourt and the driving lanes were wide open, and it did helped that Miami kept turning the ball over during the third quarter which broke the game over.
@j-short54313 ай бұрын
The adjustment the Bulls made was Michael was guarded by 6’3 Voshon Leonard
@HOTRAILProductions8 жыл бұрын
The first two games of this series were ugly because Miami was overplaying the passing lanes, and "snake-biting" the Bulls on the forearms during the shots. They put the Bulls to the line themselves. For Game 3, the Bulls spread out the triangle a little to open up the lanes to dunks and lay-ups.

This is the only Jordan game (with the Bulls) I ever taped and it was a good one. You knew coming off a bad game, Jordan was going to come out with intent. I wish I'd taped all of them. But without cable at the time it was a rare day to have good reception while taping off of the TV. Considering the number of times Jordan was hacked on the arm with no calls at the beginning of the series, it was pretty hypocritical of him to suggest Jordan was being given special treatment.

MJ was MJ and Pip was Pip, they lit Miami up. Though the other offensive stars had less than stellar games, the Bulls still dominated. To me this is what set the Bulls apart from other great teams like the Lakers and Celtics, they had such a dominating smothering defense. High scoring teams usually struggle when their offense is not clicking, but because the Bulls were so special on defense, they could struggle offensively like this game and still beat you by 25 points, now that's scary.

Besides 8 more scoring titles, a higher FG% and playing great against elite defensive teams, what separates Kobe and MJ is that Mike didn't have his best games against lottery teams. If Kobe "has the most offensive weapons ever" then why didn't he score more against the Pistons and Celtics in the '04 and '08 Finals. You better not say that they played zone defense.

as you can see here, with 3:30 remaining to the end of the 3rd quarter, Jordan had 29 pts on nice %. If he wanted he may have scored 40-50pts easily but the Bulls did not need so many pts cause the lead was huge already. My point is, there was a massive number of this type of games when he could've scored a lot more but he didn't for the same reason.

@gbinct You're right. as great as MJ and Pippen were, they were also two of the best post players in the game, they were just so well rounded, i have never seen teammates who were so complete offensively and defensively. As strong and physically gifted as Lebron is, if he never develops any kind of post game, he will always be limited and containable, mark my words.

@uberathlete Yes indeed. We always look at things on great or wanna be great players like size, speed, power, strength and athleticism, but sometimes we overlook the smaller things like moving without the basketball, post up game, footwork, timing, focus, determination, i could go on. It's those little things that can really elevate a player to new hieghts in his game. Little things can become big problems if you can't develop them.
