I am so grateful to have been alive during this era because I got to witness Michael Jordan in his prime. To this day no basketball player has even come close to matching Jordans greatness and I don't think we will ever see that happen in our lifetimes. Kobe Bryant is probably the only star one could argue but thats it.

Wonderful interview with the great Ron Harper! And great to hear him talk. // Writing from Germany, I have been in the US from 1991-94 and really got into basketball. These were intense duels, the golden age of basketball. Having lived in the NY area with no tv but a radio, I followed the Knicks, and cheering for them, via WFAN-66 New York sports radio. Wonderful memories.

R.i.p. NBA ON NBC (1990-2002). Great and wonderful 12 year telecast run from where it began on November 3rd, 1990 then ended on June 12th, 2002. Like doesn't anyone agree that we miss those years of pure professional basketball greatness?! Yes we all do for real. - 1992 is where i studied every team, wanted to know every single player before the whole entire dream team era ended in 2003 plus grew up with the Chicago Bulls of the Eastern Conference from the windy city along with the dynamic duo of Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen along with the supporting decent role of players that the once great franchise of the United Center have achieved then the team is still rebuilding 24 years later. - (6-0!!) - (1991, 92, 93, - 96, 97, 98.) - Six time champs clinch the record of 72-10 from 1996 when my favorite childhood flim Space Jam came out 11/15th in theaters and as the only team that have never allowed a game seven to occur, never lost in the finals lead by the legendary great head coach Zen Master himself Phil Jackson who then he helped the next duo of Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers from the Staples Center of the Western Conference secured their 1st 3-peat run from 2000, 01 and 02 but we'll never stop imagining that what if they never have that stupid bickering feud going on between them, stuck it out plus put their differences aside, those two could've won another 3-peat from 2003, 04 and 05 becoming one the NBA's next great dynasties for the city of L.A. for years to come, matching the Bulls run from the 1990's era then the G.o.a.t duo debate would've been a whole lot more interesting. (Heroes come and go, but legends are forever remembered from the 1980's, 1990's and early 2000's.) Nowadays it's all about 3's, money and the league as we all know it just went too soft but this is way back when superstars don't be jumping around to form super teams.

Actually me too now that i'm older and can see them and remember when i was recording this stuff though i actually hated taping the commercials cause it would take up space and i was trying to get like 4-5 games on one video tape but now i happy i did cause i can see prices and products i'd forgot about remembering how broke i was and how much cheaper things were LOL!

Excellent. The Memphis trade included Mark Gasol. Jerry West. Lakers get the championship player and Memphis gets a foundational player. Thank you

Game is so different now that’s for sure. I’m from Chicago obviously huge bulls fan!! Defense was played so much tougher 1 threw 5 specially with the rules back than.. these games were the best I sure miss them
@Spotifybr1ck2 жыл бұрын
I think the fact that people can just shoot from anywhere regardless if they are the most explosive player in the league definitely changes the way defense is played. Offense out grew defense of what we used to know

I still have an original Starter brand jersey from 1994. My fav player... John Starks. The man who beat Jordan with a 3 at the buzzer & eliminated them from the playoffs. Only to have the refs wave it off because the Bulls & Jordan get star calls.

Chris Heckert so then he didn’t beat the bulls with a three at the buzzer. LOL 😂

I'm 31 and I miss NBA on NBC. Everyone knew that the Knicks had no chance in hell of winning this series, but they gave it everything they had.

Peter Parker Shit, they played the Bulls tougher than any other team in the postseason.
@ChrisM076 жыл бұрын
The Knicks eventually realized defense alone wasn't gonna be enough to win a championship so they brought in more athletic guys like LJ and Allan Houston. Of course the PJ Brown-Charlie Ward fight and Ewing constantly being injured for the remainder of his career prevented them from ever getting over the hump.

thats why new york will always respect and adore mj no matter what! he plays by heart everytime! even if the bulls lost this one, you can't sleep on the bulls even with 13 points up, they will always try to win, they usually do plus they got a guy named mj! haha, slow start, big shots in the end, win or lose, better chance of winning with mj!

It's amazing how all throughout the game it feels like the Knicks are defending much better and the Bulls are missing a lot of shots, MJ included. Then Everytime they show the score, the Bulls are actually behind by just a couple of points and MJ has like 20+ in the first quarter

They didn’t even focus care about the wrong stuff back then Ron Harper interview was dope af, I wish nba coverage was still 💯 like this , god nba on nbc was the best I miss it so much I could almost cry about it, it meant so much to me growing up. The Easter games, the triple headers were the best, and the playoff coverage was so lit you followed every series

Knicks played the Bulls tougher in this series than the 4-1 ending result would suggest.
@billny337 жыл бұрын
I dunno, having watched that series, I thought the 2 games in NY were intense and hotly contested as you would expect, and the 3 games in Chicago were clearly out of reach for the Knicks, also as you would expect. They needed to win both games at MSG and couldn't pull out game 4 and thus lost 4-1. If you're so clearly inferior on the road, you can't get over a home loss.
@ChrisM076 жыл бұрын
@@billny33 Actually the first 2 games were close before the Bulls pulled away in the 4th quarter. That's why the Knicks made changes to the roster afterwards and brought in more athletic guys like LJ/Allan Houston and put Starks in the 2nd unit they realized defense alone wasn't enough to win them a championship.

i remember knicks were robbed in game 4 they wouldve tied up series at 2. they called a travel on starks as he received a pass/handoff and made a 3 which wouldve sealed the game .
