Todays adventure takes us out to Mclean Creek for the opening weekend of that area for 4x4in. Mclean creek is nice and close to get firewood. To Our Surprise there was a ton of snow out there. Beside for that I went down the rabbit hole and purchased a chainsaw that I didn't need.

Great price for a quality saw with very little time. Husky makes a really good power unit, but you wouldn’t want to let a friend borrow it unless they know how to use a saw correctly. I would assume they would make a really strong unit. Weak point is the batteries if it’s cold and that affects every battery out there. Thumbs up on the purchase!

I heat my home with wood so I am usually cutting 12 - 16 trees a year of mostly oak, a hardwood that you need a good sharp saw chain to cut well. I will pilut the Pferd chainsaw sharping system up against all of them. What I love about the Pferd system is it sharpens the chain teeth while filing the rakers to the correct height so the teeth are cutting at the correct height. All the other systems I've seen you have to sharpen the teeth the file the rakers down in a seperate step. I can sharpen a 20 inch bar's chain in 5 minutes. A couple months ago while cutting a large oak that was dead in someone's yard, I hit a large spike someone had pounded into the tree years ago basically totally removing the chisel off the teeth. Despite the chain't teeth being being in really bad shape, I was able to get it back really sharp in under 20 minutes. A lot of the teeth were basically flat across with no chisel point at all but it cut like a new chain when I was done. Amazon carries them for around $40 - 45 depending on file size. They are super easy to use with directions right on the tool with diagrams and the shape of the tool and markings on it to help you keep the correct angle. I highly recommend them. I've tried the dremel bits, and a couple other sharpening tools but I'd be hard pressed to give up the Pferd system

Yes, the chain shapers works but the burs that come with it don't cut the hook right. I went and got the original manufacturer bur and it was right.

I’m not a big global warming guy - I’m more of a planetary alignment guy. So - Really strange seeing snow in June in the great white north living down here in Virginia. We’ve rarely see snow since the last decade or so. Enjoy it! Gas chainsaw all the way! Gas goes a long way. Once those batteries die, you’re “F’ed” in the bush. Especially if you are using your solar panels to charge other stuff.

I like my skil electric saw, was $200us, I find I use it more than my gas husqvarna. Can't cut all day, but great for what I need most of the time. Cheers

Nothing wrong with a battery saw . The battery saw is nice traveling the back roads for a small tree in the road. These also work good for camping.

I've got a small battery operated saw which I really do like for carrying in a vehicle and smaller jobs but if you are cutting a bunch of wood, they can't keep up with a gas powered saw.
