Bully Dog ECM Unlock Cable Instructions for Cummins 2013-2016

I have a 2015 and this video says 2013-2016 but when you watch the video the guy says to choose the 13-14 ecm option. Is this a mistake or is that what you have to choose to trick the ecm?

As of early 2023 the unlock cable is not required for 2013-2017 ram 6.7. I just installed one and didn't have to use it and it worked perfect on my 2014 3500, 6.7. Don't buy the cable if you fall into this category or cummins diesel

I finally did get it to work. It took 3 attempts to successfully unlock the ecm. The problem I kept having was after the initial step the trucks dash would display PRND, problem is this truck has a manual transmission. The truck kept thinking it was not in park since it is a manual and would not let the key cycle to the off position or allow me to remove the key from the ignition. This was not letting the unlock successfully happen. It did finally work but bully dog you may want to do a little research as to why this is occurring in the manual transmission trucks. This wasted an entire day for me and was a pretty big pain in the ass to get the key out even after I would revert it back to stock (required batteries to be disconnected for 5 min, start truck cycle through gears while dirving then the key would be able to cycle to off and be removed from ignition).

Hey Steve seen you had the same problems I am having , I disconnect my batteries and tired to start where I left off on the tuning but is throwing error codes on the tuner itself any help would be awesome !

Hey chad, I was receiving the same error codes from the tuner and getting to the last step of the unlock. This was when the truck would think it had an auto and would not let the key cycle to off. After multiple attempts the truck did finally let the key cycle to the off position for the final unlock step, that's the major factor in this. If you can get it to cycle through the unlock will work. My mistake initially was I thought the key had cycled to off because it stopped but was on acc and I pressed yes on the tuner which then threw the error codes. Hope this helps, keep at it though it should eventually work, bully dog needs to step in and help out with this issue on the g56's

steve stamos My buddy had this happen and he just continued and pressed ok when it said to turn the key to off even tho the key was in the run position. The program didnt know a difference and the truck is fine.

Mine would receive an error code and fail the unlock at the last step

Did you have to reset the tuner with the error codes came up ? Or did you contact bully dog?

2016? I ordered the 2013-2016 but there's only 2013-2015 option on tuner

I am a little confused, do i do part 3 as wel to unlock? He said set back to stock so I just wanted to know if i stop after part 2 and start loading my EFI Live files in or do parrt 3 then after part 3 is done load my EFI Live files in?

I can't seem to find my lock out connector, ( 2016 3500 ) Found it if you have a problem like I did move up toward the side of the engine and look down it was hidden from view on the engine side of wire!!!

I never got pass step 2 on unlock and it showed an error I put back too stock and now I have ESC lights on now, HELPP

If anybody else has an issue with finding the 3 prong connector ( like I did ) try moving toward the engine block and then looking down on the engine side of the wire bundle, in my case the 3 prong connector was hidden by view directly behind the wire bundle while viewing from the driver side fender.

This thing is a total pain in the ass if you have a manual transmission! Made it all the way to the last step on the unlock process and it would not let me turn my key to the off position ! Had to disconnect batteries for 5 minutes and finally released my key ! Tired starting the process over and am getting error codes on the tuner ! Just a heads up if you have a g 56 transmission.
