Bully SE: Demonstration (Part 1)

Disclaimer: No Constantinos were harmed in the making of this video
Update: Apparently Derby's running uppercut and Edgar's pipe charge move are actually used in the PS2 version. These moves only work if you played the mission normally without loading it with a mission selector mod or anything similar.
Update 2: Apparently the Bullies groundspit is not unused, even on SE. So far I have seen BOSS_Russell performing it on a low hp Earnest. Also, it's not an instant kill, it actually deals 500 damage points.
Video made with the purpose of showing every fighting move from every fighting style in the game. I didn't include weapon based fighting moves in this video (the only exception being Norton and Edgar because their weapons belong to their boss fights).
Constantinos was set a total of 100 health points with no health regeneration for these testings.
Damage: How many health points the attack decreases. If there are multiple numbers it means how much damage each hit deals. Some moves can knock out with 1 hit (Instant KO).
Range trigger: At which distance the AI performs the attack. Short = near, Medium = 2 steps away, Varies = both distances, n/a = triggered by some other factor.
(Final) hit effect: The animation that the victim plays after being hit. Generic = nothing special, Knockdown = falls to the floor, Launch = flies away and lands on the floor, Gut stun = stays vulnerable for a few seconds, Head stun = the same as gut stun but hit on the head, Stunned = stays dizzy for several seconds, Sacked = hit in the balls, n/a = if it's a grapple type move it doesn't fit this category.
Block effect: How hard is the attack to block. Light = can be blocked all the time, Breaker (or Heavy) = breaks defense, Unblockable = can't be blocked, n/a = if it's a grapple type move it doesn't fit this category. If there are multiple words it means the block effect each hit deals.

the spit humiliation from bullies still exist in scholarship and anniversary i saw troy spitting on algie once. some corrections: the skinny non clique's shove attack is a breaker from distance. (ray's is unblockable regardless of the distance) i wouldn't really call girl's slap "generic" it's a backwards flinch gary's heavy kick is a breaker it's not unblockable like jimmys version. russell's heavy windmill punch is uninterruptible. derby's duck dodge and counterattack isn't just triggered by grapple attempts it's also triggered by certain npc attacks also the hit effect's are different depending on the aize and if a npc is light or not jimmy's 5 hit combo to taller light people will make them just fall backwards. for heavy npc's like damon or bif, they will get a generic hit effect the leg sweep is a knockdown effect to almost anyone, but for heavy npc's, leg . also from behind, weather an npc is light or heavy, they will get said hit effect for heavy kick from front, (light or heavy balance doesn't matter) i wouldn't really call it a generic hit effect, i'd rather call it "step back" since they get sent a little bit backwards. from behind, they fall on the ground (knockdown) roundhouse kick for balanced npc's is a backwards flinch. speaking of which, roundhouse kick has a different knockdown if hit from behind jimmy, townies's or jock's running shoulder knocksdown any short light npc, but for taller npc (even if they're light) they will get a generic hit effect in jimmy's boxing style, the duck dodge's counterattack will make npcs fall backwards and heavy npc's will get a generic hit effect. side evade counterattack has a generic hit effect on heavy npc's and the charged version of said attack will do a gut stun to opponent gary's uppercut which is a launch to short, light npc's is a different knockdown effect, which is similar to jimmy's uppercut (a little help iv) knockdown hit in player style. also the sideways uppercut from his heavy combo has a generic hit effect to heavy npc's gary's heavy punch from the knee combo is a flinch to heavy npc's gord, tad and bif's charged hook is a backwards flinch to heavy npc's gord, tad and bif's uppercut is a generic hit effect to heavy npc's derby's chase uppercut has a generic hit effect to heavy npc's and stuns whoever is launched by it

What the stats mean from my sight: Damage: How much HP the attack negates Range trigger: How much range the attack has Final hit effect: Generic means nothing really happens. Gut stun means that they get stunned and hold their gut. Head stun means that they get stunned and hold their head Block effect: The effect on a guard block. Light means it just gets blocked, and breaker means it will break the block (it interrupts the block and deals damage instead) and unlockable means, well, you just cant block it. That's all the ones I think I understand.

Range trigger is the distance at which the AI will perform that attack. For example Damon will only use the football tackle when he is a few steps away from Jimmy (medium distance). On the other hand he will only use the elbow combo if he's point blank (short distance). You are correct on the rest.

The bully three-hit combo kick is *normally* a gutstun. If the enemy in question is very tall, though, such as Bif Taylor, it will be a sack instead, meaning it hits the groin hitbox.

Height doesn't matter. Say if Russell was fighting Sheldon or something, his kick would clobber him right in the face but it would still be a gut stun. The only time size matters is from the running punch, which knocks over Sheldon and Pedro, the shoulder barge, which only knocks over small characters like Davis or Gord, Jimmy's roundhouse kick doesn't knock over tall people, neither does his leg sweep or his uncharged last hit from the five hit.

Wrestling in general has a lot of forbidden moves, it's extremely dangerous if used by someone who shares Rusell's size. I almost got slammed IRL with one of the grapples used by the jocks in game, adrenaline kicked in and actually saved myself using the reversal I had seen in Bully, otherwise maybe I'd be braindead right now.

Striker fighters can't grapple, the only exception being the Bullies. Bullies are a weird last minute pseudo faction, I guess that's why they break the rule of not being able to grapple. Melee fighters can grapple but, unlike grappler fighters, their grapple attempt frequency is lower and they can't use the running tackle.

Grapplers are the 2 people in each clique that have the ability to grapple. I dunno about the rest though. I think striker is normal (maybe).

grappler means npc's which mostly use grapple moves. most of them have grapple moves unique to them (norton & hal can do bearhug, juri & luis can do a tombstone piledriver & a sidewalk slam, jerry & gurney can do a takedown headbutt. boss_russell, [yes he is a grappler] can do a boston crab and a powerbomb) they can do a punch pummel revesal when attempted knee drop. they also use it if attempted throw or standard takedown after some seconds) striker possibly means the npc's are slightly more aggressive than the melee ones. also the striker_a spam 1 move from a distance (p_striker_a spam the shoulder rush and the hook, g_striker_a spam the jumping kick, j_striker_a spam the football takedown and last but not least, do_striker_a/t_striker_a spam the clothesline) melee as stated above possibly means the melee npc's are slightly less aggressive and hit less harder than the striker ones

Strikers strike so they usually do only Punches and Kicks and are the main damage dealers of a clique and usually have the lowest HP. Grapplers grapple so they use few Punches and Kicks and if they do they are usually just for gaining space while their special grappling moves are their main damage abilities. Melees are kind of a hybrid between those all Melees have decent Punches / Kicks and additionally can grapple as well but don't have special grappling moves - they all use either the Cross Punch to the face, the Gut Punch or the Kneestrike to the head from a grapple which are basically all copy and pasted from Jimmy. Problem here is these are exactly the same grappling moves the Prep grapplers use. So Greaser, Jock and Townie Melees can do the same stuff while grappling as the Prep Grapplers which makes them the worst Grapplers of all Cliques. Reasoning behind this seems to be that the Preps are Boxers and they don't usually grapple. Then I ask why give them Grapplers at all? Same moves they have with better Punches could be the Prep Melees but no the Preps are the only Clique with two variations of Striker and no real Grapplers.

Justin and Parker have the most accurate boxing moves and form Bully has very underrated fighting mechanics these give batman Arkham games and sleeping dogs a competition tbh.

This game has a very satisfactory and fun combat system, just like sleeping dogs and Yakuza. Hell, to think this fighting system is simply a stripped down version, imagine if we actually got the light and heavy punching system with dodging that was pitched originally. The guy who did these animations also really did his research when it came to wrestling and boxing, he mentioned that Jimmy's punching was heavily inspired by boxing too (although to me Jimmy seemed more like Muay Thai)

This already exists, and it really makes it more challenging, I really recommend it because it really gives a total new challenge to the game and a total new experience since you have to try new things when fighting gangs because even a 1vs1 is pretty complicated. I tried going against Biff when I first started and it was nearly Impossible to land one hit on him because of his dodging and counters.

You can just change the characters stats in Pedstats such as their attack, block and evade frequency, health and grapple resistance in the PC version quite easily to make the game harder

I mentioned in the description that it was a mistake and that they use it in every version of the game. The thing is that I don't know exactly why or when they use it because the AI is random sometimes.

Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't read the description at first because I was viewing this video on a cellphone. But still, the spitting on face can be done even when the opponent is at full health. I saw this being done to Trevor on the first attack, before he started to fight back (or run). The thing is that this is impossible to happen without the interference of the player because the AI takes too long to attack after taking the opponent to the ground. You have to bump on them on purpose, and then there's a random chance of the bully either doing the punch to the face or the spit attack, but it looks like the punch is much more likely to happen.

I noticed that students never (and I mean never) do any mount attacks after they push someone down to the floor. So if a bully grapples you and pushes you to the ground, Jimmy will reversal him even if you didn't press any button at all. On the other hand if a student gets to be on top of you through other methods (grapplers running tackle, jocks football tackle) then they can use mount attacks. Since bullies only have the running punch and can't really tackle, there is no way they can use any mount attacks. The bump thing you mentioned sounds interesting and must be the reason why Russell got to spit Earnest in my game.

Exactly, is because the game has an inner countdown for how long one can grapple another. The Bullies don't have the running tackle, like you mentioned, so they only take the victim to the ground after doing the regular grab. But they take too long to do anything, so by the time they decide to attack, that countdown is over. The only way to make them attack is if you either bump or punch them after they have taken the opponent to the ground, because that apparently causes the "countdown" to reset. I always do that when watching fights, and after a while, I realized that the spitting attack is part of the Bullies' regular moveset. All of the bullies used it a considerable amount of times, regardless of the opponents' health. It appears to be random whether they do the punch or spit, just like it's random whether the grappling townies do the knee drop or headbutt. Side note: I was looking for the recording in my Fraps movies folder to show you, but unfortunately, it looks like I already deleted it with many of the junk I had there. But while looking for it, I found an old recording that I had forgotten about and thought it would be interesting to show. Beta "dead" animation? Do you have any info on this? /watch?v=jkp3cHuS-A8
