Going to drop some fun facts, most reddead rp servers are set in alternate timelines where racism or other forms of predjudice just do not exist and therefore no tension between the natives or the newly settled americans is posible. Tbh, I see what they’re trying to do, avoiding putting people in uncomfortable scenarios and making sure there’s no actual bigotry, but the lore is super inconsistent and I think this level of whitewashing can cause problems of its own. In the server Sterling’s in, treatment of Native Americans is really vague. They say they’re oppressed and not citizens, but still own successful businesses in Blackwater. The whole peaceful colonialism thing is particularly weird and feels like it’s avoiding discomfort in all the wrong ways. Especially combined with people larping a stereotype. It misrepresents Native people as a pop culture aesthetic, so people with no connection to it can wear it like a party city costume, and not even have to do any thinking about the real issues that impacted the history. Again, I understand not wanting to make people uncomfortable. I think the best policy is not to rewrite history, but just one of respect and mutual consent.
