I worked for the state of California for most of my working life. The rule was I couldn’t accept any gift worth more than $25. How is it the Supreme Court is allowed to accept anything more than that? They complain they don’t make much money in their jobs. Ok. Quit the court and get another fricking job. I also am a Californian & I deal with licensing agents (within the health & human services departments) they are only allowed to accept a glass of water, nope; no coffee or tea, definitely not a cookie & they must request permission to use an electrical outlet for their work electronics. I was also a state employee, now retired, and could not accept anything more than a meal or ballcap. That justices can accept gifts legally as long as they declare it is ridiculous. Judges from municipal on up to Supreme Court justices should never be allowed to accept anything except their legislative determined salary.

I have a masters degree in public administration with an emphasis in local government. As part of our ethics training we were advised not to even affiliate ourselves with a political party.... in LOCAL GOVERNMENT. And Supreme Court justices have difficulty with this concept?!

A recipe to cure SCOTUS: Fixed term appointment (7yr). Congress maintain a pool of qualified candidates (about 100). Justices are appointed by lot from the pool (so no patronage). 2 appointments made each year...

Correction: they need to be removed while a sane president is in the White House and while the House and Senate are in more capable hands. So weird - I always thought the upside down flag was a distress call for help. My neighbors have had a little American flag on their mailbox for years and years. The night of the 2016 election we had a wind that snapped the wooden wand the flag was on so it dangled upside down. I couldn't believe it, it was like the "universe" was weeping on our behalf.

We need to take that symbol back to emphasize the dire distress to the life of our country! According to U.S. code for the flag, the flag should *never be displayed upside down "except as a signal of dire distress* in instances of extreme danger to life or property." It has been a widely recognized symbol of distress since the nation's founding, when sailors turned the American flag upside down to signal that their ships were sinking, on fire or trapped in ice.

Correction: Rep. Crockett waited for Comer to do his job and hold MTG accountable, he did not. They voted to keep her and let her insult more members. That's when Rep. Crockett asked for clarification of what the current acceptable bar was, and to bring attention to the fact that the bar is very low with Comer on the head of this ineffective house oversight committee. It looks like the leadership needs its own oversight committee to check that decorum is upheld.
