Everybody has some life story like this now where it's like yeah I used to be all wild those were the days. I think 99% of such origin stories are total BS but it helps people to conform to the machine to put false narratives in their history.

Sounds like as a construction worker he went the “poser” route. I grew up with a dude like this. They actually need money, lots of it. They go around with cute catch phrases begging and getting one way gifts from friends until the joke is over. Then they move and work construction. When he breaks a bone he really becomes a “poser”. Never ends well. Sad cause he seems talented.

It's easy to be a bum in BC. Try being one in Regina Sask. We'd eat him alive back in the day. Southern BC people talk tough, but it's all talk.

I grew up in North Van. I didn’t fit in there at all. My parents took me to Whistler every weekend and I HATED it. Athleticism may be an aspect of Canadian national identity, but it’s not a personal strength of mine😅 10 years ago we moved to California and I didn’t think I missed the slopes, but when I saw the interior of that lodge, I was back in 2009 and burst into tears. Love you Charlie ❤❤

Your only young once so enjoy every experience to the fullest. I wasted my youth working production jobs. Now I’m old and have less shit but plenty of collection agencies coming for me. Who’s to say how or what is the right way to live. But if it genuinely makes you happy and you’re not bothering family or friends for help, do it.

I’ve been homeless a couple times, I gotta admit it felt pretty good to score every now and then. A thick wool jacket in a donation box, free food from any number of places. Just being out there if you stay positive your odds of winning (more or less you’re still homeless lol) increases. I remember when I got out of rehab I hooked up with the detox nurse and she used to let me take showers at her place, then I’d grab a free coffee in the apartments lobby and make my way down to the center for some hot food. And I was young enough to access some youth spots. Shit was nice honestly. The winter sucked but I found housing eventually. Lost it all again last year and took a train across the country. A derailment left me stranded in Albuquerque for a few days and within a few hours of getting off the train this dude and his gf had offered to let me spend the night because of how fucking cold it gets out in that desert. There’s some cool people out there if you do right by them and stay positive. Just watch your back and learn how to wake up easy and ready for action even if it’s a false alarm. Maybe that’s just called ptsd lmao

He looks like such a good hearted dude, but I was kinda scared what the rest of his life might have turned out like, because this life isn't forever. Did some digging and found a podcast with him (on newschoolers). Turns out he had a good season with sponsors, went back to his home town, works construction and is married now. Man that makes this video so much more warm-hearted for me

I see no problem with being a ski bum as long as you don't mooch off friends. I made the mistake of not providing enough on own and relying too much on others. I lost many friends because of it. Only rely on yourself, not your buddies.
