Personally I feel like they're going to retcon the WW2 thing. As for why he's scared it's probably since its his first time seeing a human and he may genuinely just be scared normally since he just came from a war and he isn't sure if the rest of the Autobots have survived after he went ahead. Dev1559 Solo flopped hard, so you can cross that off. Avengers (if you're referring to Infinity War, that speaks for itself, it grossed a lot of money). However, it would be competing with Star Wars Episode IX; but it might not be much competition since Disney is kinda screwing it up, I mean… look at The Last Jedi. I'd laugh if more people go to see Bumblebee and not SW: Ep IX.

I first got into transformers when I was 8 years old the year the first Bay film came out. I loved those movies when I was a kid. But now that I'm older I know they weren't very good.
