I’ve watched these videos for a long time but felt the need to comment this time. I’m aware the standard isn’t great, but you can’t play a high line against two strikers physically superior to you in every way. I respect Mark but the team got hung out to dry there. Deserved loss and a learning curve for Dorking. Naive football

but as Marc said, the pitch was huge so sitting deep (thus surrendering possession) would've meant they really struggle physically too. I guess the plan was to get tight and be physical when the ball goes into feet and test the technical ability of their lads. From the highlights, they really seemed to struggle with getting bodies around those bouncing balls after long ones over the top. Those sticky fake pitches can be a nightmare with how long the ball stays in the air; you have to get multiple bodies around the bounce and force the opposition to get it under control.

I think Marc worked wonders getting this team and players up to this level. He's done what he could with his resources but the core of his team has definitely peaked and the real test of if he can bounce back begins now.

Everyone's an expert when you start losing but that Macclesfield team looked very good. The right winger and the striker are a handful. Speed and strenght . Very direct

4:53 great block from the defender but what a great save from the keeper. How fast was he across his line to get to the last shot and prevent that being a certain goal. 7:00 I’d take that as a compliment if I was Marc. I mean even a northern team playing in the (I think) Northern Premier knowing the manager by name. I bet they don’t know the name of most managers in their own league let alone the National League to make a point of chanting abuse it him. Yeah I’d take that, and to be fair, says a lot about the reach of this channel too. So yeah definitely a strange but very positive take away from it. Also the same will probably happen when Dorking play an EFL club. * edit. I only heard the KZbin song after I wrote the above. So again a nice “sideways” compliment in reality. Like they say, the only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about. The hell can you say about that match. Think the most shocking bit with a score like that is it looks like the keeper was Dorking Man of the Match and it could have been so much worse had it not been for him. He even saved the pen and was unlucky with the follow up. Looked like a good following too from the fans.

Watching these episodes recently I've noticed that every team at every level counters Dorking. Dorking need to plan to stop counters or get destroyed week in week out. Play lower block and leave a CM protecting the back line with the keeper playing sweeper more.

diversify the team, every team you come up against is more diverse whether it be in age, race, attributes etc. sometimes when watching dorking it feels like they are playing the same profile of player in all 11 positions other than GK and maybe Seb bowman.

Marc tells them to keep it on the ground and the next pass is a long ball. I agree some of the tactics backfired but the lads didn’t help that. Seemed out of it from the start

Feel like dorking need to buy a couple of pacey players to be honest. The attacks always feel slow, could do with a winger and striker with some real pace.
