Teach them how to properly position their SCBA on their body; if you crank down those shoulder straps first, you'll be sore much sooner than if you let the weight sit on your hips instead! Going for the shoulder straps is first is a hard habit to break, but you'll be much better off if you do the waist belt first! Otherwise, great job prepping these new firefighters! Every second counts!

Having been a firefighter and a cop for 20+ years. I’m torn on this. For years we had to wear a 40 pound duty belt on our hips. It kills your back and hips, more so for the guys that would wear it kinda loose. I always wore mine tight as hell. But when we went to the load bearing vests where that 40 pounds is now on your shoulders it’s so much better. And BA shoulder pads are somewhat padded unlike vests, and you have the turnouts for padding too.

I feel kind of slighted lol. When I used to suit up in Bunker Gear, our instructors used to give us a hard time if it took us more than 30 secs!!!

Very nice guys! I would say for us in jersey we go on air last but everyone does it differently :)
