Bunn ULTRA2 Chill mode problem solved

After spending weeks replacing parts and talking to BUNN technical support, we finally have the solution to the NO CHILL mode problem. Even through ICE mode always worked, the machine would never chill. BUNN technical documents say the torque sensor board is not used for chill mode, but that's not true! Hidden deep in the firmware, anytime the TSB senses "7" or higher, it will kick the unit out of chill mode. This means if you have a warn spring on your auger shaft, you will never chill in nighttime mode, and the compressor will still cycle on/off and waste electricity, yet not chill. With no liquid in, you should get a TSB reading of 0, 1, or 2 -- anything higher and you might have a problem.

This is by design. Chill Mode is designed for product to melt daily to prevent large ice crystals. While you state it is in/out of "Chill Mode" you actually mean the compressor is on/off. Wanting the product to be liquid the Ultra-2 ideally wants a zero torque reading. If the torque is above 7 the product is still frozen and needs no refrigeration so it can melt. Once below 7 the compressor cycles on/off to keep product fresh (~36 degrees). Info disconnect between programmer & techs is common.

@@douglassweed9758 there is a torque board on both sides. When error is present it should say which side is fault

Download an owners manual to see how to get into settings. The thickness setting is where it can be adjusted. If thickness is set at 15 then torque number is 5. Below 5 on above 5 off. The 2 numbers are calculated by dividing by 3. Thickness 18 = torque 6

Dude, torque sensor has absolutely nothing to do with chill mode. Torque sensor is all about thickness determined by resistance of product as it gets thicker while in "ice" mode The THERMISTOR (small black dual wire that inserts into freezing barrel from back) determines chill by opening solenoid at 34 degrees or more JUST to keep product cold..
