i think my biggest problem is being flexible. i usually play like 1 or 2 comps and if i dont get the units i go 8th
@pa_3op
@pa_3op Жыл бұрын
It's actually a pretty small step required to go further, as I've discovered: having a couple of mastered pocket comps AND have a general idea of how to play a couple more high meta comps so you can have some free games when they are handed to you. For example, I had laser corps+anima 30+ games each and I had mech/sureshot + SG as flex options if presented (13.7 I'm talking about). Turning 5th into 2nd once in, say, 10 games is mostly enough to get this last dash. So yeah, flexibility is a key, just don't think that you have to know how to play some obscure Wukong rerolls, all it takes is just to be a little more open. Good luck!

I thought at first that this was going to be a daunting 3 hour long video, but I learned a lot. I typically hit plat and then just stop playing, but I'm going to try to push for diamond. This video was really well put together. My favorite part is listening to all the analogies and then listening to you dismantle them yourself. "It's like this, but I don't do that so it's not a good analogy." Also, listening to you call out your own mistakes makes it feel like I should be beating myself up for messing up.
@BunnyMuffins
@BunnyMuffins Жыл бұрын
so part of me watching/polaying these games is that i'm not playign 100% super trying because they are smurf games, so the mistakes are much easier for me to point out. but since i wans't taking the games seriously i don't beat myself over it and just laugh it off instead. But i think even if you are trying your hardest, it's best not to be TOO hard on yourself to the point where it mentally affects you. At the same time, you should still care if you are trying to improve :shrug: so it's a balance

Starting playing TFT this mid-set and hit Diamond a few days ago. I had a plateau in Gold and Plat, and it's been fun learning something that's not so mechanically intensive. In gold, my plateau was lose-streaking. Half the lobby was doing it, so by not doing it, I climbed out of gold pretty much immediately just off of HP advantage. In plat, my plateau was that I thought I was smarter than everyone else, and tried to play off-meta picks to avoid being contested. Though, again, everyone was doing that in plat as well. That meant the 3 players in every lobby rolling for S tier comps always hit, which is not good if you're rolling for less reliable comps in A or B tier. Diamond is an econ and comp direction issue for me. I'm not sure how to play bad openers and turn bot 4s into 4ths. These kinds of videos help me a lot to regain focus. Thank you.

I've been trying to break into Diamond for the first time myself, bouncing between Plat 1 and Plat 2 for days XD I'll put what I would have done in each game in this comment, so people can say if they think I would have done well or bad. ~ Game 1 (Iron - Spellslinger TF) I'd have immediately taken Category 5 for the Janna (getting one of them in shop is FAR less likely than a Janna showing up), but despite what was said about Spellslinger Ekko being amazing, I'd have likely used the Spellslinger Emblem on Viego instead, going for 4 Ox Force as frontline, getting the AP boosts from Heart on each of Viego's resets (as well as Sona's casts with BB) and gone with a 6 Spellslinger endboard at L8, slow rolling at that point for 3* Viego and TF *if* either of them was uncontested. If they're both contested, I'd have pushed L9 after getting them 2* each and added Ekko. ~ Game 2 (Bronze - Ashe Reroll) I'd have definitely used the champ duplicator to get the 3* Ashe on 2-5 and started a winstreak.
@psyjinx
@psyjinx Жыл бұрын
Ekko is a lot more reliable for slinger emblem, but I think most people would do what you wrote. Ekko clumps units, which is awesome for Janna and Neeko. So, if he's alive longer, you're getting more value off of your entire board, more than a couple stacks of heart will give.

In the gold game I would of taken the spell slinger heart as I have tear and it give me Annie for gadget and spellslinger trait on board. As a diamond player I think is something I mess up and I’m trying to understand how and why I mess this part up. Maybe I just undervalue prep and second wind.

I'm a casual player that's normally diamond but I just can't get the hang of this set. Is it me or do more people have this feeling? Maybe it's because I always go to 50g as soon as possible and hate missing out on interest. But besides that, I've got the feeling it's a lot more based around luck this set...

Oh and btw, Lucian is better with ap items but if you're going for infiniteam with super ezreal, he's the better item holder. His ad is low but because of the scaling he does a lot of dmg.
@KrisRoxas

I've been in masters since set 6.5. This set is fairly balanced, and the RNG is manageable. I think hitting 50 every game is decent, especially if you like mid-game spikes. I get the feeling you probably don't have a feel for when to save HP and when to spike in the right spots. In a lot of games this set, you're gonna need to go to spike early to save HP because you keep hitting good units. I think cheesing at 3-1, going to level 6, is sometimes effective because it gives you time to roll for what you need and influence your second augment. It's also actually nice (sometimes) to start with tank items. I found that if I forced AP items, but ended up with an AD comp, I'd go 8th. So you can either start with tank items and let the game come to you, or play flexible comps with AD and AP carry options.

1:04:00 - You mention that it's too tedious for a machine to learn this game. This is exactly what machine learning is good for: tedious tasks. All it would require is someone to put the time into teach the bot/AI to learn the game, which could take a long time considering all the variables. But you need to look at it like the poker bots/helpers. Poker also has a crazy amount of variance and we have AI/poker tools that people use to help them make optimal decisions.
@Koalogy
@Koalogy Жыл бұрын
Poker and chess solvers work because the games never change, there is no meta or patches every week while TFT changes all the time. Poker also has fewer decisions points and each decision point is zero sum. You can also easily simulate a poker game in a simple computer program. TFT can only be played on the Riot client. Poker solvers cant even optimally play multiway pots which is a testament to how hard it is with current computation power. GTO solvers work on a Nash equilibrium premise which is extremely difficult to reach in a multiway pot because each additional player is exponentially multiplying the number of possible game trees. This is why GTO strategy typically involves trying your hardest to get the hand to a heads up point so that it can be solved. Each TFT game is basically an 8-way pot where LP is the equivalent of the big blind. So a TFT solver would have to simulate 8 players each playing in Nash equilibrium to churn out a solution. Considering we can barely do 3 players in a much simpler game this is currently unreasonable to achieve. So Bunny is right in saying that TFT is so complicated that it would be tiresome for a program to play it optimally. Which is a good thing because solvers basically ruined online chess and poker because anyone can have a second monitor where a solver tells them what to do.

Definitely not impressed about the last game. I think it could have easily been a first, since LeBlanc hacker is a very RNG board with high variance, and if you have enough HP and play enough 1v1 rounds you can always get just slightly lucky and sneak in one crucial win. Some of the criticisms are already in the video so I won't rehash it, but one thing to keep in mind is that when you run a vertical comp, the unit you emblem can be very powerful. You don't want to waste it on a synergy bot like Annie unless you really need the synergy. In reality, Annie is providing Ox Force (which is kind of useless since Fiora isn't 3*), as well as Spellslinger (kind of useful since it's basically about 10-20% more damage on TF, but TF isn't the main damage dealer - plus there are other Spellslingers). Putting the Duelist Emblem on Syndra is definitely a good call since Syndra is a good 5cost unit. But there are also other options in case you can't find her: * Put it on Neeko because you want Spellslinger, Star Guardian, and she'll do decent damage by casting really fast. She also has backline access that you might not have with your 8 Duelist. Janna can also be fantastic, although she provides only Spellslinger. * Put it on ASol / Aatrox because they are good units (don't put it on the 5 cost threats though...). Bel'Veth can use it too, although she typically needs you to itemize her more. * Put it on Samira / Ultimate Ezreal / since they like the attack speed and they can cast faster. If you have some more AD items they can fantastic carries.

Newer chess engines based on Neural network are much stronger than original brute-force style engines. HOWEVER to successfully create any AI engine based on neural network, you would need a huge amount of training data, and with an online game like TFT, any training data would become obsolete after a patch. The reason why chess works is because it has a database of thousands of games played by professionals to learn from.
